Chelsea—my freckled, joyful, passionate wife. Watching you mother our two kids is like watching grace in motion. You balance work and home with a kind of quiet strength that still amazes me. You fight for their safety, their wonder, their growth—and somehow, you still have room to love me fiercely too. You’re the heart of our little world, and I’m endlessly grateful for you.

To my mother-in-law—you’ve helped shape the woman I get to call my wife. Your focus, your hospitality, your constant care for our kids when we visit—it’s a gift we never take for granted. Thank you for the way you show up, over and over again.

And Mom—there’s no way to sum up all you’ve given. You poured your life into us as kids, and you keep pouring still. You’ve welcomed Chelsea like a daughter, and I see how deeply you love our children—even from miles away. If you could be here every day, I know you would.

On Monday afternoon at 3:30pm Chelsea went in for a routine checkup on our little one, expecting to find out the gender. We received the worst news possible.

Our little one didn’t have a heartbeat.

We went to the hospital Monday evening and started the labor process at midnight. A little boy, Owen Scott Finley, was born at 8:53pm yesterday.

We are heartbroken, yet know he has, and always will be, in the Lord’s hands. We are so very thankful for the many family and friends that have surrounded us during this difficult time to love and care for Chelsea, Ember, and I. Please keep us in your prayers.
