Our Dolly has passed. I say “our Dolly” because she had a magical way of making everyone feel included in her music or whatever she was doing both creatively or through her humanitarian work. She gifted us with so much talent.

An absolute legend and American icon. Dolly was an incredible country singer/songwriter, actress and advocate for children reading books all over the world. From Jolene, I Will Always Love You to 9 to 5 and Here You Come Again and Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers). Incredible!

Thank you for all the music, which like so many I had the privilege to grow up listening to and everything you’ve done throughout your career. You leave an amazing legacy in your wake that countless generations will listen to for many years to come.

RIP

Assume everyone’s just received this on their mobiles across the UK. Good! Frankly I’m glad the government have done this. Maybe the idiot element will stop or be stopped from setting off all these wildfires. (Yes, I know some aren’t deliberate.) by @nomadicwriter

We may not have managed to get great photos of the #SolarEclipse, but we have seen a rainbow cloud. The weather gods also left us a beautiful big feather in the sky. Hope reigns over us. #SolarEclipse2026

Anyone fancy pointing out to Melon Husk that ‘The Odyssey’ is a work of fiction?

Oh, to be a fly on the wall when realisation drops. 🤭 😂

Well, there you go! You talk about an experience of meeting a stranger who asks why you’re wearing a mask in a store (please see previous post) and then some numpty posts this bs.

By their logic vaccines make cancer worse and we deserve this crap.

A tangle of ginger paws and legs to break up any doom and gloom on your TL.

And one cute little sleepy face. 😍

Couldn’t resist.

Arrived home from spending a wonderful afternoon with marvellously talented screenwriter and all round fabulous soul Debbie Moon. Lovely to catch up with her - had a great chat about our writing, and despite the blustery conditions managed not to have her blown out to sea. by @nomadicwriter

Love this time of year. The pear and plumb are in full bloom while the apple trees are nicely budding up. All that beauty and promise of (hopefully) a bountiful harvest of fruit later in the year. Our pear tree alone had roughly 300-400 fruit on last year. Let’s see what this year brings.

It’s been my late Mum’s birthday today. This coming Sunday will be Mother’s Day in the UK. We were extremely close when she was present all those years. While I still miss her dearly it’s lovely to be able to remember her fondly without the deep pain of her loss. Love you Mum! XX ❤️ by @nomadicwriter
