This is what a walk in Tarangire feels like. And sounds like. Utterly thrilling.

Buffalo on one side, elephants on the other. We moved quietly between them, in the safe hands of Kuro scout Sauli and old-guard guide Geoffrey. Every so often Sauli stopped to test the wind - a puff of powder drifting, showing which way to move, always downwind of the herds.

Zigzagging through the tree line, along the river, around the termite mounds, and out to the edge of the plain, we moved in step with the herds. They knew we were there and watched us calmly as we passed.

For a moment, it felt like we were in their world and slightly out of ours. What a privilege. And then, walking back in to camp - and a very welcome glass of wine in the mess.

Meet Ally, one of the people at the heart of our new film, launching Thursday 30 July.

The migration moves. We also move with them.

Ally knows the Serengeti through everything from the roads to the landmarks. He reads it in the grass, the weather, the gathering clouds and the smallest changes in the animals around him.

That knowledge is gathered over years of watching, waiting and returning.

In Nomad: The Map Makers of the Serengeti, Ally takes us into a landscape he knows deeply, following the movement of the herds and the shifting life around them.

The full film launches on YouTube on Thursday 30 July.

A new Nomad film launches on Thursday.

Nomad: The Map Makers of the Serengeti takes us behind the canvas of Serengeti Safari Camp, following the people who move, rebuild and begin again alongside the migration.

One big space. One small safari camp.

Every year, the herds move across the Serengeti. And every year, our camp moves with them.

This is a film about instinct, movement and the quiet knowledge that comes from a lifetime spent reading the land.

The full film launches on YouTube on Thursday 30 July.

Follow the countdown in our Stories.

Our stories are told differently, with everything happening across the globe, here at the heart of @ruaha_national_park we witness the unfolding of animal’s ADAPTATION and most importantly RESILIENCE in the wake of CLIMATE CHANGE, against all odds the populations are holding tight to this massive expansive ecosystem which they call home. Prolonged periods of dry seasons and droughts triggers ancient skills that elephants have passed down generation to generation where members walk into the dead dry Ruaha River to give it LIFE just for a brief moment, from a simple dug hole these elephants seek out the flow of water underneath, patiently detecting the silent movement it makes under hot dry sand. As a result many other species will eventually join the Riverbed to partake in this ancient act of survival. @nomadtanzania we not only interpret nature! we weave ourselves with the stories to create long lasting impressions that will pull you closer to the reality of wildlife situations and phenomenas. Our storytelling is not one for SELL but rather CONTRIBUTION towards CONSERVATION in the name of TOURISM. The bush camp @kigelia_nomadtanzania is where you should be next! and you shall meet me there… taken in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania by @nomadtanzania

There is a certain kind of safari that asks very little of you beyond your time. A place where conversations drift as gently as the water before you, where the day’s discoveries are woven as much from the stories shared with your guide as from the tracks that disappear into the grass, and where the quiet moments between adventures become every bit as memorable as the adventures themselves.

Charlie Camp lies deep within the Ugalla ecosystem in western Tanzania, one of the country’s last truly remote wildernesses, each day is shaped by you and the landscape itself. Walking, exploring, lingering beside the water’s edge or setting out simply to see what the wild has in store all become part of an experience that feels wonderfully untethered from the everyday.

For those drawn to places that remain reassuringly untouched, where distance is measured not only in miles but in the feeling of having left the familiar far behind, Charlie offers a safari that rewards curiosity, patience and a willingness to embrace the unexpected.

Some parks are famous. Others are reserved for those seeking a truly immersive wilderness experience.
At @ruaha_national_park, we don’t promise checklists—we offer something far more rewarding. Here, you become the hunter, while the bush and its inhabitants remain the elusive quarry.
Sightings are never handed to you; they are earned through patience, awareness, and time spent in the wild. Every early morning wake-up is driven not by expectation, but by anticipation.
And when @nomadtanzania guides your journey to these moments, we do so with one purpose: to enhance life itself. by @nomadtanzania

It’s World Chimpanzee Day, and at Mahale we’re celebrating the M Community, the wild chimpanzees we are fortunate enough to call our cousins.

Few wildlife encounters compare to meeting them. You set out on foot, following forest paths and listening for calls in the canopy. They may be found quickly, after hours of searching, or not at all. But when they do appear, every step and every climb is worth it.

Time here belongs to the forest, not the clock. There are no guarantees, just you, the Mahale Mountains and the privilege of spending time with a habituated chimpanzee community in one of the wildest corners of Tanzania.

It is the kind of life-changing encounter that only a few will ever experience.

Charlie Ugalla is not designed around the migration, nor is it about ticking off sightings from the back of a vehicle. It is for travellers who want to walk, observe, listen and feel properly immersed in the landscape around them.

Charlie Ugalla is a private expedition camp in one of Tanzania’s least-trodden safari landscapes, created for guests who want their safari to feel like exploration again.

In the Serengeti, no little one is left behind. The herd steps in to help and we are pleased to confirm the baby did get back on its feet and safely went on its way.

Thank you @ally.kea for the explanation. by @nomadtanzania

This is a morning at Charlie, Ugalla.

Tents beside the water, birds calling across the lake, and the bush still soft in the first light. There is a quietness here that seems to wash over you, as you realise just how far away you are from the stresses and noise of everyday life.

Charlie is safari in its purest form. A chance to reconnect with nature, to feel the thrill of the bush, and to experience something a little raw, a little wild, and quietly unforgettable.

It may not be for everyone, and that is part of its beauty. But for those looking for a truly exceptional safari experience, this is where you will find it. by @nomadtanzania
