5 years ago, I said “yes” to raising my nephew. Today, I get to tell my SON… “Welcome home.” 🏡❤️

I never could’ve imagined how much that one “yes” would change both of our lives.

Long before Khanye & I’s worlds united, I dreamed of one day being able to give my child a beautiful home. A place that was ours. A place where he could grow, feel secure, make memories, and have the stability every child deserves.

And somehow, God made that dream bigger than I imagined.

What makes this moment even crazier is that less than a year ago, I was laid off from my job. There were so many unknowns about what would come next.

But the Lord kept providing.

Door after door.
Blessing after blessing.
Making a way even when I couldn’t see one.

Five years ago, I thought I was simply stepping up for my nephew.

I didn’t realize God was giving me a son. ❤️

And I definitely didn’t realize that one “yes” would lead our family all the way here.

Welcome to OUR new home, SON. 🏡🔑

Dear Dad,

For 38 years, you stood the watch. All my life I’ve watched you become the juggernaut you are today. You joined the Navy at 17 years old, and rose to the ranks of a Captain in the US Navy — something that puts you in rare territory along with every accolade you’ve earned. You were a combat Veteran in Desert Storm on lengthy Submarine deployments, and worked long hours ashore. You’re one of the most decorated and respected men in your profession I’ve witnessed and the best part for me is that you happen to be my Dad. Through all that you’ve done you made time for us at home, giving us what every kid deserved to have in a Father. We sacrificed a lot as a family alongside your journey and it was well worth seeing you shine in every room you entered. It was an honor to witness your greatness, and a blessing to be a guest speaker at your retirement. Your shoes may be huge to fill for our family, but I love the challenge to continue trailblazing for the next! Your actions led me better than you could ever tell. I look forward to your next chapter, Ol’ Man. Thank you for being a hero to the little boy in me for the last 30 years. Cheers to what comes next.
