103 nautical miles by skiff + 8 miles on foot. Now that’s a Southeast Alaska adventure! 🙌

September on the west coast of Chichagof Island, with NOMAR gear along for the ride.

Our scabbards are built for this: loaded into the skiff, hauled onto the beach, and carried into some pretty wild corners of Alaska.

Thanks @rafe_hanson_photo for sharing these incredible shots!

Where has your NOMAR gear taken you lately?

Southeast is still fishin! Here are trolled coho coming in from Neets Bay. 🎣

For the first time, coho are being bought in the round, and NOMAR brailers are helping keep these fish in beautiful condition along the way.

Pretty cool to see our gear at work in the wild! Thank you so much Ron for the photos! 🙏🏼

WE’RE HIRING AT NOMAR! 🧵

As summer winds down and cozy season settles into Homer, we’re looking for people to join our crew at NOMAR.

Our biggest need right now is production sewing. Experienced sewers are always our first choice, but experience isn’t necessarily required. If you’re local, reliable, eager to learn, and looking for steady work and a skill you can build on, we can train the right person.

We have full-time, year-round positions available, and part-time or seasonal work may also be considered.

NOMAR is a warm, bright, clean shop right here in Homer, Alaska, where we manufacture gear that gets shipped all over Alaska and around the world. Commercial fishing gear is still at the heart of what we do, but our shop produces a huge variety of sewn products.

What we offer:
• PTO
• 401(k)
• Wi-Fi
• Showers + laundry
• A warm, bright workspace
• A great crew
• Opportunities to learn and grow
• Steady, year-round work
• And paychecks that never bounce 😉

Have another skill to bring to the table? We love that too. Sewing machine repair, upholstery, embroidery, bookkeeping, design, photography, IT, carpentry, art, music, cooking, fixing things, leading things, following things… NOMAR has always been a place with a pretty interesting collection of humans and talents.

But right now, production sewing is number 1.

Prefer to put your headphones on, settle in and work without dealing with the public all day? You can do that here. Want to be the social ray of sunshine? That works too. Around here, you can pretty much adjust your own level of peopling. 😂

Come as you are. Come learn something new. Or bring the skills you already have and grow with us.

Stop by NOMAR in Homer, meet the crew, take a tour and see if there might be a place for you here.

📍 Homer, Alaska
🧵 Full-time year-round preferred
🪡 Experienced sewers encouraged to apply
🙌 Training available for the right person

Come sew with us.
