I can’t believe I’ve been working on this for nearly an entire year.

What I thought would be a simple process—a few months, max—turned into one of the most challenging things I’ve done in terms of writing.

Intense Feelings started as a parody in 2010, but quickly became a story I cared about deeply and gave every effort to. Years later, I adapted the story for a novel, which has been very well received and I also love very much. But…

I knew it wasn’t quite right. I knew I needed another revision. One last one—definitively. And after a painstaking 10 months, I have it drafted. The final version of the story I’ve been inhabiting for 16 years.

I know it still needs work. A good edit from a good editor. Some condensing where I can. But this is something I’m extremely proud of.

I hope you enjoy 🦇🖤 by @nomipalmerauthor

The original Intense Feelings clocked in at around 154,000 words and close to 600 pages. I reduced the font size and overall formatting of the book so that you wouldn’t break your wrists reading a physical copy. But, uh…

The Definitive Edition is pushing 200,000 words, and I think, in the end, all 5 books will be about that long. So…1,000,000 words total 😅

Passions is a sprawling Gothic epic, set in modern-day British Columbia, Canada in the fictional mining town of Tourmaline. These books GO PLACES, starting as something paranormal romance-adjacent before spiralling into romantasy, sci-fantasy, and beyond. Each book focuses on a different set of interconnected characters and their own unique stories before converging in book five for a thrilling conclusion.

I am currently rewriting book one, Intense Feelings, with plans to send it out to beta readers over the next few weeks. The entire series is getting revamped and repackaged into its final form: the Definitive Edition. I’d love if you followed along for the ride 🖤 by @nomipalmerauthor

Intense Feelings, Immortal Passions, and Hopeless Devotion are leaving KU and the paperbacks of all three have been unpublished. The ebooks will remain available for now, but will also be pulled before the end of the year.

All this is to make way for the Definitive Editions, starting with Intense Feelings in 2027.

Fear not! If you wanted a paperback, please DM me as I have some stock left, or visit me at the @buycanadianbookmarket this November 1st in Toronto. But get them now, before they’re gone forever…! by @nomipalmerauthor

Pleasure to meet you 🦇 My name is Nomi, and I’m writing a Gothic Paranormal Soap Opera called Passions. It’s a 5-book epic spanning probably close to one million words (when it’s done), with multiple POVs, multiple couples, and is told over nearly 30 years. I’d love for you to follow along on my journey as an author 🖤

Ever heard of a Gothic paranormal soap opera novel? Now you have 🙂‍↕️

Welcome to Intense Feelings, the first book in my series, Passions.

Purposefully structured like your favourite soap opera or CW drama of yesteryear, Intense Feelings is essentially a TV show in a book. There are multiple POVs, multiple couplings, 8 main characters, and enough drama that you’ll need a cork board and some red string to keep it all straight.

I’m currently in the process of revamping the series and would love if you followed along 🖤

And last but not least, can we take a minute to appreciate the amazing art by @peach.pod ?! I’m swooning over here 😍 by @nomipalmerauthor
