· ‘Offshore’ is the forthcoming solo guitar album from Half Moon Bay local Alex Pasternak, an improvisatory record built almost entirely around a single instrument and a single practice: Restraint. Recorded close to home, it carries the sound of the Pacific and the voices of his two young daughters as they stroll the shoreline, from serene minus tides to stormy shore break.

All Susumu Yokota Skintone Edition Vol. 1 albums in stock on vinyl or CD: link in bio. ‘Magic Thread’ The startling debut release on the Skintone label is full of mystery and wonder. It mixes his love of deep house beats, eclectic ambience, and sampladelic oddity. ‘Image 1983 - 1998’ Mesmerising album of his earliest sonic explorations that demonstrates Yokota's unique vision and sublime transcendence of boundaries. ‘Sakura’ The ambient masterpiece that set the world alight with its dazzling and immersive transcendent beauty. ‘Grinning Cat’ One of his most loved releases that explores the intersection of jazz, new age ambience and a world of found sound and samples. ‘Will’ His most upbeat and playful release on the Skintone label. A wild melange of bumping beats, freestyle samples and esoteric goodness. ‘The Boy and The Tree’ Yokota at his most enigmatic and profound. A deeply psychedelic voyage into a world of ritual and magic. ‘Laputa’ The mystical world of Laputa is perhaps his most challenging work but immeasurably rewarding. Beguiling and bewitching in equal measure. Follow @susumuyokotaofficial and @lorecordings for updates. Find out more at susumuyokota.com. · ‘The Lost Score’ is a collaborative project between the UK-based electronica trio Haiku Salut and the Australian pianist and composer Meg Morley. The two artists joined forces on a bespoke score for the 1930 silent film ‘People on Sunday’. The album is released on Red Vinyl 12” in full colour reverse board sleeve. Designed by @non.format 🔗 in bio Reviews for ‘The Lost Score’: “It will surely leave you in tears, both for the past that was, and the future that might’ve been.” - Carl Griffin, @electronicsoundmag “It would’ve been easy for the synths of Haiku to take the backseat and allow Meg’s piano to do the heavy lifting, but there is an even billing with both working together for the sake of the bigger picture.” - Neil Mason, @moonbuildingmag “…stands proud as an exemplary piece of work.” 8/10 - @undertheradarmag “…a knife edge balance of urgency and introspection.” - @banbantonton “Morley’s keys push the project to the next level.” - @acloserlisten “There is true joy in the symbiosis of Haiku Salut’s perfect balance of the electronic with the acoustic, coupled with the jazz and classical elegance of Meg Morley’s piano playing.” - @joyzineuk “Copper toybox percussion, explorative piano runs, and evocative soundscapes peek their heads up across the album.” - Beats Per Minute (@bpmny) “…takes a historic cultural artefact and reframes it in a vividly contemporary aesthetic.” - Ben Gilbert, Electronic Sound “…it’s just stunning.” - @nemonemetaxas , BBC6 “Absolutely beautiful.” - @chrishawkinsdj , BBC6 “An excellent collaboration.” - @coegideon , BBC6 Track: ‘What Happened Next’ Take from: ‘The Lost Score’ · · · @haikusalut @megmorleymusic #HaikuSalut #MegMorley #LoRecordings #FilmScore #VinylRecords @bbc6music @griff3000bc @realbengilbert @sequence.cc @state51 @neil_m by @non.format

Susumu Yokota: Skintone Edition has been designed by @non.format, who are renowned for their custom typography. The creative partnership of Kjell Ekhorn and Jon Forss is a part of @anti_inc, the giant of the Scandinavian design scene. Jon spoke about Skintone Edition typefaces to Transmission Publishing: "(...) we created several sets of new typefaces (nine in total) to reflect the diverse nature of Yokota’s work, and then selected one typeface for each line of the name and title of each album. Most of the albums have two disks, so there are 13 disks in each box set. The result, across both volumes, is 26 inner bags, each with a mixture of these new typefaces filling the front of the sleeves. (...) "A few of the typefaces are pretty straightforward serifs or sans serifs with obvious European roots but many are quite expressive or experimental in form, with nods towards Japanese typographic or architectural forms. We wanted each typeface to have its own distinct expression, knowing that once they were mixed together across so many surfaces they would create one harmonious visual expression (...) "The typeface we made for EDITION was inspired by a video we saw about someone dismantling an old Japanese house, beam by beam, joint by joint. There were no nails, no screws, just hand sawn wood and pegs. Craftsmanship at its finest." Read the full interview on @transmission_publishing website: link in bio. Susumu Yokota: Skintone Edition Vol. 1 has been designed by @non.format, the creative partnership of Kjell Ekhorn and Jon Forss, who are part of @anti_inc, the giant of the Scandinavian design scene. Jon explained some of the creative decisions behind the design of the covers when he spoke to Transmission Publishing: ‘Lo wanted to make a big statement about the importance of Yokota’s work. They wanted something that would suitably honour his legacy, so a two-volume box set that pulls together all the releases on his own Skintone label seemed like a wonderful way to achieve this. We had to find a way to draw all of these disparate record sleeves together under one cohesive visual umbrella (...) ‘Each of the albums features the original cover art but we gently abstracted each image slightly so that they are no longer just crisp reproductions but more like a vague memory of the originals. When seen from afar they appear very much like the originals but when you get closer they seem less clear. This is just another layer of the design that ties everything together while hinting at how perception can change over time.’ Read the full interview on @transmission_publishing website: link in bio.
