AGE OF YOUTH — Episode 1: A Ruined First Impression. Time for Repositioning! 🔄 There's a part of this episode that hit a little too close to home. I used to be just as awkward as Eun-jae. I used to quickly assume the worst about people I'd just met. I used to bottle up disappointment, anger, and sadness because I wasn't used to expressing how I truly felt. Even the people closest to me didn't always know what I was going through. So I stayed quiet, keeping everything to myself, until those hidden feelings piled up and eventually boiled over. It was only after everything exploded that I realized how deeply I'd been trapped in my own head. How many conclusions I'd drawn without ever giving others a real chance to explain or show me who they really were. I wanted to be understood, yet I didn't know how to open up. I wanted others to understand my feelings, yet I often struggled to share them myself. Perhaps I'd built my walls a little too high. This episode reminded me that learning to understand others also means learning to understand ourselves. That suppressed feelings don't just magically disappear. That others can't always read what we leave unsaid. And that we don't have to wait until we reach our breaking point to speak up about how we feel. I'm still learning. Learning not to rush to conclusions, to be more honest with my own emotions, and to give others a chance to get to know me better. There's a scene in Age of Youth that always makes me pause. Episode 10 — “We Believe Because We Want To” A conversation about hope, belief, and the things we want to be true. “You don't believe it because you have a reason to.” “You believe it because you WANT to.” I think what makes this line so unsettling is how easily we can recognize ourselves in it. Sometimes, we hope because we see a reason to. But sometimes, we hope because we're not ready for the possibility that things might turn out differently from what we wish for. And I don't think hope itself is the problem. The difficult part, perhaps, is knowing when our hope is helping us move forward, and when we're holding on to it so tightly that we stop seeing things as they are. Maybe we don't have to stop hoping.
