REthink. REwear. REimagine. Vol. 2 by @ecofashionweektalks

What can fashion learn from people who have been creating consciously for generations?

This time, our conversation explored how indigenous knowledge, craftsmanship and the way we value what we already own can help us rethink what circular fashion really means.

A special moment came through a live demonstration by Pokomo women artisans from Kenya’s Tana River region, presented by @noortribe_lux showing the transformation of natural raffia into a handwoven bag. The process reminded us of the time, skill, knowledge and human hands behind what we wear and use.

Led by NoorTribe founder Guia Martinotti, the conversation encouraged us to look beyond innovation as something that must always be new.

Our wider panel brought different perspectives to the conversation, from garment repair, alterations and redesign to leather craftsmanship, material choices, responsible production and extending the life of the clothes we already own.

Thank you @ruth_dolly_ Co Founder of Eco Fashion Week Africa and Founder of Dolly The Seamstress, and @effueopiyo1 , Founder of @bukuleather , for bringing your experience and voices into the conversation.

What made the afternoon even more meaningful was the curiosity. Our audience asked questions, challenged ideas and shared their own experiences, turning the session into a real exchange rather than a one way conversation.

There was also a clothing swap, giving pre loved pieces another life, and together we raised over KES 10,000 for @malindi_hands_of_hope , supporting their work in the local community.

For us, that is what REthink. REwear. REimagine. is about. Conversation that leads to participation, participation that leads to action, and action that creates impact.

We believe one of fashion’s most important next steps is also one of its oldest ideas: use what we have well, value the hands that make it, and make things worth keeping.

The fashion industry has become fluent in the language of sustainability. But real change requires looking beyond words and examining how things are actually made.

This past weekend, I had the honor of joining @belinda.living (co-founder of Eco Fashion Week Africa) at @saffrongardenmalindi for the Rethink, Rewear, Reimagine dialogue.

Three takeaway ideas shaping our future:

🌱 RETHINK: Questioning normal systems. Looking closely at materials, sourcing, and the true human + environmental cost of production.

🔁 REWEAR: Challenging disposable fashion. True value comes when a piece is designed to last—cared for, repaired, passed down, and appreciated over time.

✨ REIMAGINE: Looking to indigenous craftsmanship, local materials, and ancestral knowledge for modern, responsible design.

At @noortribe_lux , true luxury doesn’t live in excess. It lives in meaning, provenance, and creating things that are made to matter. 🖤
