😃 Still smiling after @igniteitevents LA yesterday! 🔥 I loved representing @norcalseedsandgenetics on “Beyond the Hype: Innovation, Genetic Diversity and the Business of What’s Next.”

A personal thank you to @elliotwlane, @patrickalane, Emily Lehmann and Jason Raznick for bringing everyone together and including me in this important conversation. I appreciate the work you and the entire IgniteIt team put into making this event such a wonderful experience.

Thank you to Melanie Nash for moderating our panel, and to Sue Carlton, Mike Corvington and Graeme Bluett for your thoughtful contributions. It was a pleasure sharing the stage with you!

Thank you also to IgniteIt and WeedWeek for the pre-party at Benny Boy Brewing and the after-party at @thewoodsweho. Dinner at Pace ran late, so I missed the after-party 😭 but I really enjoyed spending time with everyone especially Max Simon (@greenfloweradmin).

Leaving LA grateful for the conversations and our community. 💚

🌱 Sometimes the genetics speak for themselves. 🌱

Fan leaves are the solar panels of the plant, capturing light and powering photosynthesis. But fan leaf morphology including size, shape, leaflet number and width is also part of a plant’s observable phenotype.

When you work with diverse genetics, you start noticing these differences everywhere. Some plants produce narrow, delicate leaves while others produce massive, broad fan leaves like this one.

It’s one of the things I love most about working with genetics. The diversity is right there in front of you (and this one was definitely big enough to hide behind). 😂🌿💚

🌸 Caftans, crafts, cann@bis and a whole lot of colorful women.
☀️
Such a fun day at @plantshop.company in Mendocino with @norcalwomenincannabis. Sunshine, creativity, community and plenty of laughs with some incredible women who have helped make Northern California cann@bis what it is.
🌿
After all these years in this industry, days like this are a good reminder that cann@bis has always been about more than the plant. It’s the people, the stories, the friendships and the community we’ve built along the way.

💚 Yesterday, Jay and I had the privilege of attending the Legacy Cann@bis Genetics: Research Dissemination Event, where two years of community-based participatory research was shared with the public.

@norcalseedsandgenetics was honored to contribute to this project alongside an incredible group of researchers, Community Advisory Board members, cultivators, breeders, and community partners dedicated to documenting and preserving California’s legacy cann@bis genetics and the communities that have stewarded them.

It was inspiring to see the research, conversations, and collaborations come together. Thank you to everyone who made this important work possible. We look forward to continuing to support the preservation, research, and stewardship of legacy cann@bis genetics.

🌱 Bud Jewelry™ 💎

Not new. Just finally giving this passion a home.

For more than a decade, I’ve shared and sold these miniature masterpieces, introducing them to friends, colleagues, collectors, and fellow flower lovers who appreciate the beauty and artistry behind each piece. One chapter of that journey included working with 420 Expressions.

Along the way, I began dreaming about creating my own collection. After years of patiently waiting and reflecting, I realized it was time to continue the journey and bring my own vision to life.

Bud Jewelry™ is the next chapter. A celebration of wearable flower art inspired by legendary cultivars, culture, and community.

Some of the best friendships in this industry start with a handshake at an event… and before you know it, you’ve got a favorite dancing partner. 💃✨

A huge shoutout to my friend Jennifer “NorCal Jen” Michaels @norcal_jen , co-founder and CEO of NorCal Seeds & Genetics.

Jennifer and her husband, Jay, have dedicated decades to preserving legacy genetics and protecting the history of this plant through one of the industry’s largest privately maintained genetic libraries. Their work goes far beyond breeding, it’s about preservation, research, stewardship, and ensuring the next generation doesn’t lose the genetics that helped build this industry.

Beyond everything she’s accomplished, Jennifer is simply one of those people who lights up a room. She’s passionate, authentic, full of energy, and if there’s music playing… chances are we’ll find each other on the dance floor. 💃😂

I’m grateful this industry brought our paths together and even more grateful to call you a friend. Here’s to preserving the legacy, celebrating the present, and dancing our way into the future. 🤍✨
