Happy Easter 🐣

1. Pagan Roots:
Easter’s most common non-mainstream origin theory ties it to ancient pagan fertility rites. The name “Easter” is often linked to Eostre (or Ostara), a pre-Christian Germanic goddess associated with spring and fertility. Rabbits and eggs—symbols of reproduction—tie into this.

2. Astrotheology Theory:
Some claim Easter is really about the sun’s resurrection after the spring equinox. In this view, “resurrection” myths across religions (Osiris, Tammuz, Mithras, Jesus) are symbolic of the sun’s return to power after winter. Easter, in this theory, marks the sun “rising” again in the sky.

3. Christian Rebranding:
The theory goes that early Christianity co-opted spring fertility festivals to ease conversion of pagans. They slapped the “resurrection of Christ” on top of existing rituals like egg decorating, feasts, and springtime worship.

4. Occult Symbolism:
Easter is sometimes tied to Babylonian mystery religions. Ishtar (goddess of love and war) is sometimes falsely linked to Easter. The myth: she came down from the heavens in a giant egg (hence the eggs), and resurrected her lover Tammuz. This gets mixed with claims about elite occult worship and fertility rites.

5. Date Manipulation:
Easter’s timing is calculated using moon phases and the spring equinox, not historical events. Some suggest this shows its roots aren’t historical at all, but symbolic or ritualistic—again reinforcing the solar cult or astrological theory.

6. Council of Nicaea:
Easter was officially fixed as a Christian holiday at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Conspiracy theorists claim this council helped standardize pagan-Christian hybrids under Constantine, blending solar worship and state religion to control the masses. taken in Miami, Florida by @norflorus
