After 27 years of dedicated service to the City of North Miami, we proudly celebrate the retirement of Assistant Chief of Police Angel Rivera as he prepares to embark on an exciting new chapter in his law enforcement career.

Throughout nearly three decades of service, Assistant Chief Rivera has left an undeniable mark on the North Miami Police Department. From his years serving as a narcotics and gang detective in the Crime Suppression Unit to his leadership as a longtime SWAT Commander, his career has been defined by commitment, courage, and an unwavering dedication to public safety. He also played an instrumental role in the department’s accreditation process, helping strengthen the standards of professionalism and excellence that guide our agency today.

However, his greatest legacy extends far beyond his accomplishments and the ranks he has held. It lives in the officers he has mentored, the leaders he has developed, and the countless individuals he has inspired along the way. His guidance, experience, and commitment to developing the next generation of law enforcement leaders will continue to shape our department for years to come.

While this farewell is bittersweet, it is also a moment of tremendous pride as Assistant Chief Rivera has been appointed the Chief of Police for the Lauderhill Police Department. Although his next chapter takes him beyond North Miami, the foundation he helped build and the relationships he fostered will forever remain part of our agency’s history.

🎃 4 Essential Halloween Safety Tips 👻

1. 👀 Stay Visible & Be Seen
Wear bright or reflective costumes, carry flashlights or glow sticks, and ensure masks don’t obstruct your vision.

2. 🚸 Trick-or-Treat Safely
Children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult. Stay in well-lit areas, use sidewalks, and cross streets at designated crosswalks.

3. 🍬 Check Candy Before Eating
Parents should inspect all treats before allowing children to eat them. Avoid candy with damaged packaging or signs of tampering.

4. 🚗 Drive with Extra Caution
Slow down in residential neighborhoods, eliminate distractions, and watch carefully for children who may unexpectedly enter the roadway.

🎃 Halloween should be spooky, not dangerous! The North Miami Police Department wishes everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!

These colors represent more than awareness—they symbolize strength, courage, hope, and solidarity with survivors, fighters, and those we have lost.

At the North Miami Police Department, we stand together in support of those affected by breast cancer and domestic violence, reminding our community that no one fights alone. 💗💜

🚔🚦 Driving Safe, Driving Smart!

The North Miami Police Department was proud to participate in the Jack and Jill Teen Safe Driving Event at Dezerland Park!

Our officers engaged with young drivers in meaningful discussions about safe driving practices, positive interactions with law enforcement during traffic stops, the dangers of impaired driving, peer pressure, and passenger safety.

Through education and community engagement, we aim to empower our youth to make responsible decisions behind the wheel and develop lifelong safe driving habits.
