Last week we had our annual Photo Day!

Every NVFC team gathered behind Fen Burdett Stadium for their team photo. An image that, in many ways, captures how quickly time goes by and how important it is to enjoy the moment, regardless of the final score.

We also hosted a very busy cleat exchange, with dozens of players donating and picking up soccer cleats. Some of those cleats were once worn by players who have gone on to play professionally, and are now being passed on to the next generation.

And of course, we got to watch a few NVFC games, reffed by… You guessed it, NVFC players and even NVFC coaches.

Players, coaches, referees, families, past, present and future. That’s what a soccer community looks like 🙌📝

Without getting too philosophical, enjoy today’s games in this beautiful weather, it may not last long! ☀️ taken in North Vancouver, British Columbia by @northvanfc

Yesterday, Youth Director Wisam Souki (Coach Wisi) participated in the Train Like a Cap event, organized by Acera Insurance at the Whitecaps’ Training Facility. @acera_insurance

Hosted by Whitecaps legend Carl Valentine, club leads and technical directors were given a tour of the training facilities, watched the first team train, enjoyed a coffee chat with Jesper, and took part in their own training session led by Whitecaps First Team Assistant Coach and former NVFC coach Brendan Shaw.

It was great to see former NVFC coaches Nico Agnoloni, now Whitecaps U15 Head Coach, and Martin Brain, Vancouver Academy Centre Head Coach. Former NVFC Technical Director Mike D’Agostino, now a Whitecaps First Team Assistant Coach, was away with the Canadian Men’s National Team and couldn’t join us.

Seeing four former NVFC staff working across the Whitecaps’ first team and academy system is a great reflection of the coaching talent that has been part of our club and the impact our coaches continue to have at the highest levels of the game.

And Coach Jesper went home with a hat from his now unofficial favourite club… North Vancouver FC. 😉

A big thank you to the Whitecaps for their gracious hospitality and to Acera Insurance for giving back to the soccer community.

NVFC alumni are on television tonight!

UVic will take on UBC in the Canada West Game of the Week at 7:30pm PT, and five players who came through North Vancouver FC will be on the field. Finn Tugwell, Archie Tugwell and Elliot Lupton are with UVic, and Max Comsia and Ty Whyte are with UBC.

Watching players who went through our player development pathway play a game like this is very special no

The game is free to watch on CBC Sports and Canada West TV, so put it on tonight and cheer for all five of them!

To know more about the experience of playing at such level, check out Finn’s interview, where he also talked about what his years at NVFC did for his game in a feature with U SPORTS. Link in bio.

We had so much fun at the @bestkidsfest!

Over 300 kids went home with an NVFC jersey, after accomplishing THE challenge of the event: successfully kicking the ball into the bin!

It’s incredible how such a simple, but difficult challenge, can spark so much fun and perseverance! That’s the power of a soccer ball ⚽️

Congrats to all these kiddos (and some adults 😉) who proved themselves what they are capable of 👏

As we celebrate National Coaches Week, we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize a coach who has made an exceptional impact at North Vancouver FC.

We don’t often dedicate a post to a single coach, but Mike Robson is someone whose contribution to our club deserves to be highlighted.

Mike has been a coach, mentor, leader and, above all, a tremendous influence on the players he has worked with over the years.

Over five seasons, his team played 128 games, winning 99 of them, with 369 goals scored and only 99 conceded. Along the way, they won 3 league titles, 3 Coastal Cup Championships, 3 Provincial Cup Championships and a National Championship bronze medal. They reached 5 consecutive Coastal Cup finals and qualified for the Provincial Cup 5 straight years. In total, they medaled in 10 of 11 cup competitions.

But Mike’s legacy goes well beyond the results.

His approach to coaching has always been about developing players as people as well as soccer players. His former players speak about the life lessons, experiences, memories, mentorship and example he gave them along the way.

That is what makes a coach truly special.

Mike, thank you for your years of dedication, the countless hours you have given to the players, the families and the club, and for setting such a high standard of commitment and passion.

Your impact on North Vancouver FC will be remembered well beyond the trophies and medals.

Thank you, Mike. by @northvanfc
