📼 BANDCAMP SUMMER - NORTHWEST TAPES, VOL. 1 📼

This one is super special, and the first release of it’s kind for Northwest. Back around the summer of 2023, Noah was living in Muncie at George’s II with Lukas + Dominic, and I believe he purchased this tape machine off of eBay.

Using old tapes from Captain Rob’s Flea Market in Muncie, Noah would record a lot of ideas and if you happened to be in the house when he was around working on it, you could add some ideas to the tape. Honestly , I (L) wasn’t around the house that much, but Dominic and Noah ended up putting a lot of ideas together.

Some of those ideas ended up on our self-titled, but most just ends up here on this 13-track project. I feel like you can hear the air and the inspiration that was floating around at the time. I included a lot of photos from that time period , if you take a listen you’ll be able to sense that it translates into these tapes so well. At least it does for us!

🐕BANDCAMP SUMMER - SUBURBAN DOGS (2019) 🦮

The year was 2019. 4 young lads gathered tirelessly in a shed, in basements, and various other familial locations to create their second album. For some reason, the first couple projects were super centered around La Croix and unmistakably within the context of Northwest Indiana. This project ~ Suburban Dogs.

It means a lot to all of us, with @julia.dujmovich taking the first photo as well as the cover art of Leo / Cowboy. Noah’s cousin @hayden_carlson was also our first bassist for the band! Additionally, Julia also filled in on bass throughout some live shows and recordings 🙊 This was also pre-dating drum recordings for us, so while @_blake.fletcher_ was our drummer, we were on that solely FL Studio drum-replication vibe and hadn’t locked in on a good setup in the slightest until much later.

It’s truly hard to recall all the stuff that happened within those whirlwind years, but we’ve now released both the Suburban Dogs album + The Complete and Untouched Suburban Dogs Demos (2018-2019) onto our Bandcamp, yet again for FREE / Pay What Ya Want!

Take a listen y’all. A lot has changed but the memories are still insanely potent upon repeated listening. Thank you guys again for everything !!! Seriously. taken in Chesterton, Indiana by @northwest219

My GOODNESS…thank you Indianapolis for an entirely unforgettable night at @hoosierdome317 ❤️🥹

So many of y’all pulled up and we truly felt so much love and kindness and community and a million other things that night, all good things of course. I’m not sure when our next show will be, or even what our next move is, but it’s nights like this that really give us inspiration and warm, fuzzy feelings.

our bassist @my_first_tumbleweed is leaving the country next month. leaving for a small country that many are unfamiliar with called Japan. on some real sh if you could come out to @indienightlive tomorrow it would be seriously appreciated and we will be on our absolute A game 🥹

it might be a long, LONG, long time before you’re able to see this demon on the strings with this group , so if you’re thinking of heading out here , please giddyup and sing some classic nw jams with us. chills, bro chills….

Meet the Band: Northwest 🐕🍃 Indianapolis indie rock band @northwest219 got their start in Northwest Indiana in 2017, when longtime friends Lukas Needham and Noah Bennett began making music together. What started with homegrown demos eventually grew into a four-piece with Blake Fletcher and Dominic Sandefur, bringing together a sound that moves effortlessly between indie rock, indie pop, shoegaze, and alternative.

Known for their dreamy textures, gently sung vocals, layered production, and a knack for balancing the abrasive with the tender, Northwest’s music carries a distinctly nostalgic and introspective edge. Their DIY approach is at the heart of their sound, with the band members taking on production themselves and building songs that feel both intimate and expansive. Across releases like Area Code, Suburban Dogs, and Heaven from Athens, they’ve explored everything from childhood nostalgia and coming-of-age to the messier emotions of growing up and finding your way through it all.

After years of playing shows throughout Indiana and building their roots in the local scene, Northwest is bringing that unmistakable indie-rock energy to the stage for the first Indy Indie Night at Hoosier Dome on September 3rd.
