Absolutely delighted that my 'Kitten's Hiss' has been pre-selected for the upcoming @visualartsscotland Annual Exhibition, which will happen at the @royal_scottish_academy in Edinburgh, January 2027!

Very excited to be able to show my work again in this amazing venue!

'Set in Stone' | Ephemeral installation | Stones, chalk | 2025

A work that I've never really shown to anyone or thought much about. It consisted of eight stones onto which I wrote the words ‘conviction’, ‘meaning’, ‘god’, ‘belief’, ‘values’, ‘morals’, ‘knowledge’ and ‘truth’ in chalk. The stones were placed at the shoreline in Rhodes, Greece, and left exposed to the movement of the sea. I wanted to explore impermanence, erosion and the instability of concepts often regarded as fixed or “set in stone”. I was interested in observing how long the sea would wash over the stones before the words disappeared, and whether certain words would fade before others.

I kept revisiting the site until it got too dark and documented the event photographically. Ironically ‘truth’ and ‘morals’ disappeared before all the others, while 'god' remained pretty much untouched! By the following morning, there was no trace of the stones themselves; they had been carried away by the sea.

I do still sometimes amuse myself by wondering whether someone might have been walking on the beach on another day, deep in existential thought, and accidentally come across one of these stones with the text still visible.

'GOD', 2026

'God' explores how language shapes perception through words that carry exceptional symbolic weight. Terms such as ‘god’ and ‘faith’ are simple arrangements of letters, yet they are saturated with personal, cultural and historical meanings that often obscure critical reflection. The work invites viewers to question whether they are responding to the word itself or to the beliefs and emotions it evokes. It also reflects on how the polarised discussions around beliefs can distract from the universal human questions that different belief systems seek to address.
