As I have structured this differently on Substack as I have here, I will not give that much of description as I normally would. Common for all of these images are that they've been captured during my travels during the summer of 2022, mainly focusing on Helleren at Jøssingfjorden ( @dalanefolkemuseum ), and Sanden Såre in @visitsetesdal. I've also included some orphans that I've captured elsewhere that is not include in the upcoming posts at Substack.

Come spring 2022, and I got things more sorted with my camper. It turned out the leisure battery was a joke, so I got it changed as well as getting a portable power generator. This open things even more, and spent the spring more and more exploring Setesdalen and south-western coast of Norway.

At the time I was so longing for nature to come into bloom, yet it was still holding back. Almost like a metaphor for my mental state at the time. I was coming out of the darkness, yet I was nowhere close to were I wanted. As these uncovered tree roots I stumbled upon at Byglandfjord, I now knew more the shape of my demons. Their cloaks was undressed, but I had still a road to travel.

Not only did I seek out some new places, I also was able to visit places that I earlier only was able to check out during daytrips. With a camper I could now boondock there, and get to experience the place over the period of the day. No more waking up at idiotic o’clock to drive there for morning or staying there with only the un-comfort of a car.

These are some images I ended up making when the old Knotten (my camper) started to lift the darkness I was stuck in. Not a year prior to this I really hit rock bottom, but I also found my way back to photography. The rhythm of vanlife was not yet, and I was still struggling with technical problems that needed to be sorted with Knotten by this time.

But what I had received was a freedom and a room to begin breathing again. I was able to get around to new locations without the constraint of needing to return home the same day as was the case earlier.

Now I could travel to a location and stay there to capture moments I earlier would only be able to experience if I started the day during the silly hours of morning, or stay uncomfortable in the car waiting.

As my autumn trip got a bit of hit on account of the current political situation here in Norway on account of fuel price problem, I had the chance to explore a bit of my old stomping ground where I grew up. The woodland I'm capturing here were the place I explored and walked in during my childhood.

Much have changed since I was a kid here. The forest have thicken and there are far more trees here than it were back in the days. There are also less sign of the military using the terrain as training ground. The old shooting range are still here, and still being used. What is different is that there are no longer spent blank fire cartridges strewn all over, yet kids still make treehouses as they used to before.

Summer has come to pass, and the year's most beautiful season, autumn, is upon us. It's now time to pack away the swimwear and pink pool drinks, and unpack those comfy wool sweaters. Fill the cup with apple and cinnamon tea while cuddling up in the comfy blanket. Put on Billie Holiday's Autumn in New York as the rain flows down the window outside.

Autumn is not only time for cosyness inside with candlelit mood lights, it's also the time when nature put on a firework of colours. That time of year many of photographers long for every year. Thinking this year will be the one that we capture that one image that will forever pull the heart-strings, yet it's always beyond the horizon.

Days flow into each other without making you stop, then suddenly you poke your head outside the window to check, turn, and all of sudden you stop in your tracks. This is what happened this morning when I was checking the light. First I checked towards where I know the sun rises in the morning and I turned my head. 180 degrees around the magic of those autumnal mornings was playing out with mist on the water, nice colours and mood for days. So what else can you do than grab the gear and go capturing.

This last passing year have not been what I envisioned. Private life and photography have been suffering from this as for me both are so intertwined. I won't go into what's been happening in my private life, but the broad strokes of the photography I will mention.

Last July I switched digital camera system from my old trusted Nikon with the D800 being my camera of choice, to FujiFilm ( @fujifilmnordic ) with the X-T5 taking over for my old trusty mentioned D800. Along with changing camera system I've also totally rebuilt the rest of my kit minus my tripods (they are still @feisol_europe). We're talking lenses, filter kit and holder ( @nisiopticsnordics V6 and Switch holders and filters, @kasefilters_uk ), and camera backpack ( @nyaevo_official ). Beside just switching camera systems, I've also implemented Cobalt Image ( @cobalt_image ) film profiles into my workflow to have it easier have similar look across my digital and analog edits.

Also my image archive have been a total mess for years, and this have needed sorting as well. Not to mention my websites, but I won't bore you with all the details surrounding this.

So what you're see here are a small selection of what I've now that I feel I have finally got the chaos a wee bit under control. Not since 2023 have I felt really peace to be in the moment and just do photography, and this have been liberating.

Jæren - Close to Home

Home is not a building, a city, or country. It's not just a house were you live even. Home is were you heart lives. What you call home is were you feel at peace. For me, these images show what I call home. They are shot over a period of almost 15 years. For me, this is where I find inspiration and recharge my energy.
