My thoughts on suffering, loss, and painful circumstances.

Sometimes life doesn’t make sense.Innocent people suffer. Good people get crushed. And our natural instinct is to put God on trial for it.
But the book of Job reminds us of something hard and necessary: we cannot put God on trial.
The mystery of innocent suffering remains. We don’t get all the answers.
What we are invited into is trust — trust in a God who is both just and infinitely greater than our systems of explanation.
Not blind trust. Not pretend-it-doesn’t-hurt trust.But real trust that says, “Even here, even when I don’t understand, I will still hold onto You.”
That kind of trust doesn’t erase the pain.But it does keep us from drowning in it.

He is trustworthy, we don’t have all the answers, but He is faithful. by @nosmallstir

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority by @nosmallstir

“We are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence — on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice.”

“Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”

O taste and see that the LORD [our God] is good;
How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.
O [reverently] fear the LORD, you His saints (believers, holy ones);
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions lack [food] and grow hungry,
But they who seek the LORD will not lack any good thing.
