I stared into the ABYSS and the ABYSS stared back…. The highlands of Iceland are truly an otherworldly place and @therifticeland ‘s new 330km ABYSS route highlighted some of the remotest and weirdest parts of this island.Starting with 50 other riders at sunset and riding through the “night” and into the dawn added a special twist to an already unforgettable experience.My @santacruzbicycles Highball was the perfect bike for this race, I was able to ride almost all of the 50+ river crossings, fully send the downhills, and recover on the climbs. Supremely comfortable and confident for my 19 hours of shredding!!*shout out to @sramroad for the donuts at the mile 140 checkpoint 🤌🏽 they kind of saved my life and to @chrisburkard for putting this event on my radar!!📸 @_sonam.cc_ by @notchas

Choices choices.. @therifticeland 330km “the abyss” is up next and I originally was gonna ride my gravel bike..cause gravel race right!?But thought it over, talked to the Iceland expert @chrisburkard and decided..comfort 1st, versatility 2nd, and speed 3rd…. Enter the @santacruzbicycles HighBall Fast Boi Hardtail ™️. Still needs some tweaks, but this rig ticks all the boxes and keeps me behind flat bars for more @silkroadmountainrace vibes. by @notchas
