✨ Turkish Rivera: Part 2 ✨

After leaving Bodrum, my journey led me to Ephesus, a city that was once the crown jewel of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. My first stop was the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Though only a few remnants remain, it was once a grand structure dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and fertility.

Ephesus itself is a masterpiece frozen in time. Walking through its streets, I reached the Library of Celsus, built in 117 AD to honor Tiberius Julius Celsus. At the library entrance there are 4 statues representing these four virtues placed left to right: Sophia (Wisdom), Arete (Excellence), Ennoia (Insight), and Episteme (Knowledge).

Amidst the ruins, modern life thrives. I met many well-cared-for cats and dogs wandering peacefully through the ancient streets.

Ephesus isn’t just a glimpse into the past; it’s a place where history feels tangible, where every stone has a story to tell. Stay tuned for Part 3 as I continue uncovering Ephesus at night and my journey back to Muğla!

✨ Turkish Rivera: Part 1 Bodrum ✨

Perched on a mountain cliff in Söğüt, Turkey, I stayed in the coziest tiny home. The owner, Ahmet, made it feel like home right away, stocking the fridge with local food, leaving me wine to unwind, and making sure I had everything I needed. I woke up early to a magical sunrise, savoring a simple breakfast of yogurt and a chocolate protein bar (thanks, Ahmet!) before setting off on an epic 9-hour road trip along the coast in a little red yaris.

First stop: Bodrum! I explored the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and wandered through the Bodrum Ancient Theatre, where history meets stunning views of the sea and town.
