🚫No, my supervisor’s email isn’t a bear. But without boundaries, my brain didn’t know the difference. This is your reminder to pause, breathe, and protect your peace; rest is resistance.

👇🏾Here are some ways that I set boundaries :

🌱Create communication windows: I check emails only twice a day, early morning and mid-afternoon. It helps me stay on top of key items, without being overwhelmed.

🌱limit after hours communication : I was guilty of replying to emails 24/7. Now, I aim to limit communication between working hours.
Bonus tip: I use “schedule send” so I can reply at a decent hour, without feeding urgency culture.

🌱Name your limits and honour them: I’ve started saying, “I’d love to help, but I’m at capacity right now.” This has helped me focus on my main scientific project while not being stretched too thin.

🌱Unlearn urgency culture: Although, with experiments, there are time sensitive moments, I’m reminding myself not everything is urgent. This helps me prioritize what to focus on.
it.

I had such a blast at the MD-PhD prep program at Stanford university last month 🎉.

I learned so many tips and tricks about the American medical school pathway and got great advice of how to frame research essays.
