Life is what you make of it.

I was born in Marietta, Georgia, and when I was in the 3rd grade, I moved to a town called Acworth, Georgia. Acworth is a place with a fantastic community. Everyone was there for each other, and since we were young, we were our purest form and lived with no regrets since we didn’t know much about the world. My time at Frey and Durham has always been on my mind, and to this day, when I go back, it’s like I never left. I was supposed to go to a high school called Allatoona (better than Harrison), but my mom got an opportunity to move to Germany for work.

When I was 13, I moved to Frankfurt, Germany. Frankfurt was my first taste of the world. Our first hotel was in the red light district, so it was really a taste of the world. We came to Germany without a house or school in mind, but everything worked out perfectly. After a couple of days, we found a school called European School Rhein Mein (better than ESF), and that was home for the next three years. Between these years, I met some amazing people. The German people were completely different from my friends back in Acworth, but I was happy to be a part of their culture. I also met People from countries like Korea, Italy, Lebanon, and Turkey since it was an international school. This school taught me how to treat people from different countries. They all treated me nicely, and loved my singing and dancing.

I then went to boarding school for two years in England in a small town called Sedbergh. This place showed me the ropes of being a good person in the world. We had to keep our rooms clean, attend chapel every morning (Hart had the best singers), and wear suits daily. Here is where I met original English speakers with funny accents that made me feel at home. Every day was a different adventure. You had to stay on your toes, or else your room might be upside down. From being forced to do the Wilson run to making viral TikToks. It was a perfect place to enjoy my last two years of high school with the mandem and galdem, but it got cut short because of COVID-19. taken in World by @notejdj

Perception is everything.

How you view the world shapes your version of the world. It took me some time to realize this, but everyone goes through life through their lens. Your experiences shape who you are, leading to you thinking the way you do. If you have gone through a lot, you will see life as hell; if life has been good, you will see it as heaven. Understanding this allows you to understand why people behave the way they do.

As I started my self-discovery journey, I would go on Instagram or TikTok looking for someone to tell me how to be my best self. Some people would say grind and don’t think about other people, and others would say love everyone and treat them the same. I would see people who believe in either version being successful. So, I wanted to see which version works best for me. After trying both sides, I would have highs and lows, but nothing was consistent. So I tried things differently by going off social media and looking inside for the best version of myself. For the first time in my life, I had mental stability, no more wandering thoughts. So far, I believe that looking outwards for your happiness won’t bring you the 100% fulfillment that comes from looking internally. This means you need to know what you like and don’t like instead of forcing yourself to like things because others like it.
 Traveling is an excellent way to find out more about yourself. More so being present while traveling. Back home, you are comfortable, so you keep doing the same things. Traveling allows you to experience life differently. You can try different things and incorporate them into your life back home. You will notice the similarities and differences between the people back home and those at the place you are visiting and have a different perspective of your situation back home. Rugby has been a great teacher for me. It has shown me different cultures, allowed me to meet great people, and led me to places I would never have imagined. It has taught me to be humble because we need each other to win. The rugby community is the type of community where I can travel to any country and find a helping hand. We might be enemies on the field, but there is still respect at the end of the day, even for the referees. Rugby takes work. One must be fit and can face challenges head-on, regardless of the opponent’s size or speed.

The road is long but I am slowly getting there. I started when I was 13, not knowing anything about rugby. Now, I am 21 and have learned a lot.

Rugby is like a game of chess. One has to think on their feet and never switch off. We must consider the different possibilities, act on the best one, and do this all at full speed. There is no script. We must go with our guts and trust that our teammates understand our actions. After some time, a flow is developed, but even more possibilities opens up the higher you go.

I am becoming more and more ambitious as I grow up, so nowadays, I only focus on my goals. I want to succeed because of my mom’s hard work and the people who have pushed and helped me along this path. Going down this path is difficult, but I am learning which makes it worth it. taken in Rugby by @notejdj

It’s been two years since I left college, and I’ve been blessed with the experiences I’ve gone through. From these experiences I was able to find out a lot about who I am.

Today, I’ll be traveling to LA where I’ll put my head down and do the work I know that needs to be done. I will be off instagram during this time, so I wanted to share a snapshot of what the last two years have looked like.
