Day 26 #30DaysOfBourbonCalendar Makers Mark Private Select Milk Chocolate Truffle Star Hill Farms

As bourbon heritage month winds down I am reminded how bourbon is always better shared. This one was bought by my wife and I when we did the whole bottle dipped experience at Makers. We finally opened it for fire table season and as we tasted it, it is aptly named. The nose, surprisingly smelled like milk chocolate and carmel. The taste, wait for it....miilk chocolate and a bit of carmel. The finish is where it diverts. It was a long finish but here we got a bit of the heat (111.8) and cinnamon red hots. The chocolate and carmel dissipated and a little bit of brown sugar came out and the cinnamon dominated. I am really looking forward to having this in a few weeks as it opens up.

E.H. Taylor Single Barrel has a really tasty nose. Maybe I am fancying something sweet, but the vanilla, caramel, and a touch of oak has me wanting dessert and either another pour or something more substantial. The taste is smooth and rich, with brown sugar, baking spice, and my favorite bourbon flavor-caramel.
The finish hangs around with warm oak, vanilla, and a little baking spice. Overall, it’s an easy-drinking bourbon with plenty of flavor. Better than small batch but maybe not as good as the barrell proof.
