Brotherly love to the max. I’ve never asked my kids to be responsible for Welles as we get older. But both Scarlett and Ames have asked if they can…
It makes my mom heart pretty proud, relieved that I know he’ll always be looked after however he needs and thankful for siblings who love the heck out of each other between their wrestling matches. 😆🫶🏼 by @nothingdownaboutit

Nothing could have prepared me to be a boy mom… but man, I think I was made for it! The joy I get wrestling these puppies of mine and watching them be so wild and playful together is unmatched. Scott and I both come from families with all sisters. It’s been crazy and amazing having this little pack. Each of them so different, but all quintessential little boys.
Welles, my sunshine boy. ☀️ Always making things brighter, magical and adding joy. Ames, my heart boy. 🩵 A deep feeling, heart of gold and always wanting everyone to feel loved. And Fitz, my precious bruiser baby. 👶🏼 The family ham and wild child that somehow outdid Ames’ wildest days. 🤪

Happy national daughters day (4 days ago 🙃). It takes a lot to be the leader of a pack of wild boys and she does it like a boss. ❤️‍🔥 This kid is something special… driven, loyal, so hard-working, tough and devoted. She doesn’t let just anyone get to her gooey center, but when she does… it’s such a gift!! While 100% a daddy’s girl, she is mama’s little bestie. 🫶🏼 If you cross one of her brothers, she’ll be your worstie! 😜

✨13✨ We have another teenager in the house!
A teenage boy who still loves to cuddle his mom and dad. 🥰 #theluckiest
If you’re here… you already know how blessed our family is by our sunshine boy. I’ve been accused of making our journey with him and Down syndrome look like rainbows and butterflies. 🙃 While it has not always been easy, he is absolutely our rainbows and butterflies, boy. 🩵
I am thankful every day that he came to us and that he came just like this. Age only makes it sweeter. Yeah, the gaps are bigger between him and his peers… realities can hit harder when I see the opportunities that he sometimes misses out on or the ways his life looks so different from the baby boy we thought we were having 13 years ago. But as he gets older and I watch myself and others navigate teenage parenthood, I’m really grateful to have a child like him.
Welles is exactly who he is supposed to be and I am one proud mama.
Our peacemaker, our unconditional lover, our boy who loves to make us all laugh and include everyone!

The summer I turned 40✨
I wanted to put these here so I have a place to come back and reflect on all I’ve got walking into the next decade with me… I couldn’t be more excited for my 40’s. I’ve got some great lessons under my belt from my 30’s to pull from 🤍
Walking into this next chapter, the priorities I have for myself and our family don’t feel overwhelming or stressful but rather peaceful and exciting. I feel a whole lot of gratitude for so many deep and authentic relationships… a village that I am so blessed by! What a gift.
Walking into my 40’s feeling no pressure to show up where I feel too stretched is leaving me with energy for the most important places… 🤍
Life feels real good and it was a summer of feeling incredibly loved. 🫶🏼 I wish I had more snapshots of some of the people and places that became core moments and memories! Here’s to another decade 🥂 by @nothingdownaboutit

I could tell you a million reasons why I’m so lucky he’s my dad. But when he came over on Father’s Day to see us, and as he spun and rocked out with Welles, this was the memory that conjured up…
My dad and mom jumping on a plane the second they heard he was born and immediately given a diagnosis, me sitting in a hospital room with a tear stained face and filled with fear, my dad coming straight to me and kissing my cheeks then reaching for Welles with tears of joy in his eyes… my heart beginning the journey to heal and accept (and soon enough embrace wholeheartedly). ❤️‍🩹
Not everyone is lucky enough to have an exceptional father and I don’t take mine for granted. Shows up always and loves unconditionally. For that I am so dang grateful. 🤟🏼☀️🌙⭐️💫 by @nothingdownaboutit
