from the summer that changed my life

setting new standards 🖤.

(incoming first-gen college graduate essay incoming)

First things first, shoutout to my great grandparents, mi familia in Peru and America, mis abuelos, friends, my cats, and everyone I met at ucla 🗿. As someone who never thought they’d make it this far, this achievement is proof of my life, that even angsty, dramatic, sarcastic, idiots like me can occupy space in the # 1 university in the country. My HS counselor told me something that’ll stick with me forever, “be more selfish and put yourself first”. It sounds horrible but it made me feel okay leaving the Bay and accepting that before I could make everyone else happy with my decisions, I needed to be happy first.

I know I’ll probably always hold self-doubt, but even if i can’t see tomorrow I’ll make sure to walk towards it wherever it leads me and trust the me that got this far 🗿🖤
Toodles ook-la hasta next time (;

P.s. If this somehow finds my junior year chem teacher Ms Barnes SCREW YOU I DIDNT DROP OUT OF HS AND I MADE IT ALL THE WAY BABYYYYY 😌🤪🕺🗿✨✨✨ by @notimeforhashtags
