Last week’s jam at @memberkeley (thank you for sharing your special space!) again was off the hook. Tbh, this year has been the one where I’ve been actively working on gaining more confidence to join in on jams. Singing I can do, but some reason, overcoming my fear/resistance and joining in on the piano has been a major deal for me. So when my brother invited me to join these jams, it was a great validating push. BUT I had no idea how amazing these jams would be. After playing for like 3 hours, I left floating, relaxed and filled with joy. There’s no ego, no battle - just the pure joy from playing with others and being in community with others. This time round I even mustered up the courage to play my brother’s bass 🤩. Shoutout to Chris too for teaching me how to play Cumbria. Here’s to trying new things, letting go of the outcome and just having fun.

🎥 Whoever filmed this - thx!

So much to share from Gen Con and I still don't know where to start! Thanks to everyone who helped me get there and everyone who made it a magical experience once I arrived. Here's day 1 and 2 and some music by yours truly to capture the vibe I was feeling all week.

More to come, but I'm taking my time. It's not the destination. Or the journey. But the story you choose to tell!

Chatting with @theboardgamebruh reminded me that nerdy passions aren't just hobbies, they're cultural practices, and they build community, figuratively and literally. Day 1, 3, and 4. Those are cards from trading card games folks used to build towers, tunnels, characters, animals, and welcoming messages.

A home away from home.

Heartfelt hugs - one of the many beautiful things from connecting through music … @couchdate thank you for sharing your beautiful space.

This Dare To Love Free gathering began in Tokyo in May and ended in San Francisco two days ago … however, we continue as intended because this is the beginning, the opening, the foray into more. This is not a tour in the traditional sense, but instead the seeding of a moment that has been dreamt then cultivated and continues to expand.

⭐️ Stay tuned as I have more to share real soon.

Day 2 of KublaCon Fall boardgame convention! Looking forward to another day of connection and creativity while playtesting the instructions for Source of Dreams and checking out other indie games from local creators. Super excited and grateful to be here! The Dreams are strong with these ones.

Another amazing KublaCon Game Convention! Two weeks later, I'm still inspired and surprised. It seems like folks really want to play Source of Dreams as a two-player game, and, though it was designed as a single-player experience, it holds up! Lots of laughs, insights, and impactful stories.

What didn't surprise me was the sinking feeling that came after the convention, followed by the thought, "What if I don't finish this game?" After having done this several times, I've come to realize that the real fear is not an unfinished game. I know this because even when I imagine completing my game, and seeing it sitting on my shelf, something still feels missing. I now know that the feeling isn't so much about the game as it is about missing the people it brought together, and the new community it has allowed me to step into, feel welcomed by, and meaningfully contribute to. Looking forward to seeing who joins me at the table next!
