It still feels so unreal.

The past week has been a rollercoaster of emotions. I won’t lie I felt indifferent for so many reasons. My emotions kept fluctuating, but I was blessed with the right people around me, constantly reminding me to be happy and celebrate this moment.

This journey didn’t start last year, it started the moment I decided I wanted to become a lawyer.

I remember my grandfather telling me that he would be at my Call to Bar ceremony. If he were still alive, I know he would have been there physically. But Allah knows best. Preparing for my Call to Bar made me miss my dad even more.

When I saw my result, I was overjoyed. Then, a few hours later, reality set in. I wanted to cry so badly, but I couldn’t. (I can’t help it I’m a happy child.)

Through it all, I am genuinely grateful to Allah (SWT), my family, and my friends for their unwavering love and support.

Friday was a reminder that mediocrity has never been an option for me. I must always strive for excellence.

Alhamdulillah.

In a democratic society like ours, where the rule of law prevails, the court is the last hope of the common man. It plays an important role in the interpretation of the constitution, protects the rights of citizens from encroachment by any organ of government, and generally has inherent jurisdiction to determine cases between persons and persons and the government. The constitution has vested the court with the inherent powers to adjudicate on all matters between persons, or between government or authority and to any person in Nigeria, and to all actions and proceedings relating thereto, for the determination of any question as to the civil rights and obligations of that person.
