Aint it funny how Hey
Becomes how are you
Becomes I’d love to
Becomes I want you, I need you
And then
Becomes I love you
Becomes I hate you
Becomes I never wanna see you again
Oh I wish we could go back to Hey

Funny how a string of words can carry a charge that never really dies. I wrote those lyrics at 2 am in a vegas hotel room and knew they were special, but didn’t touch them for years. Man what a journey they’ve taken since.

Eventually I brought it to @andygrammer and we wrote the rest, finishing it with @cloudology

It lived on my hard drive years before @dweb3r revived it with his special sauce, and we revised it countless ways for many different artists, until completely reproducing it together for @backstreetboys

Big love to everyone else who donated their magic - @officialkukharrell @brettiebass @sonymusic @bobbywooten3 on bass, @gray_bashew with the 🎻 arrangement, @doghouserecording.la @ellistucker with the mix and master, and so many others. They say it takes a village because it really does.

To have this song be added to the re-release of arguably the most influential album of my youth is a feeling that hasn’t really settled in yet. I’ll let you know if it ever does. by @notmichaeljade
