There is nothing more important in this gig than…a bike. It’s the first word in the job title “bike courier”. I have had dozens of bikes over the years. Mostly track bikes. I have had custom builds, stock builds, hand built. Aluminum, steel, carbon. I’ve had a few bikes I loved and I’ve had quite a few that just “didn’t work” for me for one reason or another. In fact more often than not every bike I build had something that I had to adjust to. Geometry, weight, components, size, shape something in every bike requires some adaptation. When I first started working with @tyrantbikes my (now friend) @notsallombroso got me hooked up a with a few frames for race prizes amongst which I decided to grab a tyrant legacy. I had been having weird issues with my triple triangle frame I had been so excited about just a year before luckily I never sticker bikes unless I plan on keeping them so resale is almost never an issue. I built it up with an @origin8cycling parts package . Low risers, chubby stem, seat post, wheels and crank. And prepared for an adjustment period…the next day it was covered from head tube to bottom bracket. Stickers I’d been saving for years. That same day someone stole it, I chased him down and…efficiently retrieved it, as ya do. This legacy quickly became my favorite work bike I had ever had, bomb proof, perfect geometry for my environment just low key enough in its neutral gray to not attract the wrong attention, a rear cut away to tuck my wheel into and space enough for wider tires (assuming I ever went above 25) shortly after that I was able to get my Kagero, which for various reasons was a grail bike for me; I still think it may be the only one in the states. I raced a beastie in San Diego they hooked me up with, and got a few frames for rookies in the city. Sal and the team at Tyrant love the community, they advocate for getting the youth on track bikes, building something that matters all while churning out some of the highest quality of stock bikes I’ve personally used. With a history deeply intertwined with the messenger and urban track bike “fixe” community solid customer service and powered by one of the biggest hearts in the game. by @notsallombroso

〜NEW YEAR SALE

Special thanks

Today I met one of my heroes, Mr. Gary Fisher.
Not only did I marvel at his creations back in the ’80s and ’90s at the local bike shop — I actually owned one of his frames. That frame changed my life.

You see, I used to ride a Nishiki that weighed a ton and just couldn’t handle real mountain biking. So I swapped all the parts onto a Gary Fisher frame, and the difference was like night and day.

Later, when I started thinking about launching a business, I remembered that feeling. Back in the late ’90s, a lot of people couldn’t afford complete bikes — and carbon was all the rage. So the first frames I purchased came from a factory in Taiwan called Leader Bicycle Manufacturing. What blew my mind was that this same factory was making frames for Look in France.

I got the same models, branded them “Leader,” and started my journey. That factory is long gone, but I kept using the Leader name on all my products until I lost the company in 2017.

Much love to Gary for hanging out with me today at the MADE Bicycle Expo. 🤠🚲 by @notsallombroso
