System: The Curse of the House of Rookwood

Long ago, a member of the Rookwood family made a deal with a demonic force. This pact granted the ancestor great power but also inflicted a terrible curse on the Rookwood bloodline. This is your family, we face your generation, and how your story will repeat, or disrupt, itself.

As we gather we will create a generation of the Rookwood family. For example this can include a moody teenage daughter, rebellious son, stern spinster aunt, drunken bachelor uncle, a dottering grandfather, domineering mother, unemotional father, absent-minded grandmother, cavalier sister, flighty brother, or a wastrel cousin. You will each have a curse and a gift, that can physically and emotionally alter you. You will also have a assets, desires, and most importantly, skeletons in your closet that haunt you. taken in Talon Bar by @nottoyeild

Introducing our newest Storyteller Jo! You may recognize them as a Dungeon Master with @crystalswordgames and @acourtofkings and this month they’ll be helping us launch The Dread Ball: Masquerade. A true multi-hyphenate creative, we can’t wait to show off what their skills in design and production will bring to our events.

It’s a dark and stormy night. The creak and groan of wood and stone echo in your ears. A crash of thunder and lightning startles you out of your sleep and in the window there is a face. In your ears their is a voice…what does it say? What does it want?

This will be a story of ghosts, memory, and mystery. We will find ourselves in a gothic mansion questioning how the past influences the present….and the present can affect the past.

These portraits from @acourtofkings were so fun to shoot! Feel free to dm me for the full album link :)

One of these days I’ll be able to afford to buy myself a flash and some different lenses 🩷 but for now these lowlight 30mm shots are a fun way to capture the color and personality. Love how these turned out taken in Red Eye NY by @nottoyeild

CHOOSE! YOUR! FIGHTER!

1. An emotionally distant monster-hunter turned prince. Why talk about your feelings with your spouse when instead you could simply disappear?

2. She's cute, she's soft, she makes a killer Sex on the Beach. This rabbit-folk named "Sally," is but a simple maid, who wouldn't harm a fly.

3. A DM who can, and will, kill your character the first time you play D&D.

4. A gambler, a ruffian, a rake...this sea elf may not be able to seduce your average sea horse in his elven form, but he will save you as a giant frog, even at risk of his own life! And isn't life about the giant frogs you meet along the way anyway?

5. This mer-lord is your average absentee gay uncle. He will show up once every five years, beat your child at a dance off and accidentally introduce them to drugs. So! Do with that what you will!

A strange fair has come to your small town! Everyone is abuzz with excitement as there’s usually not enough people here to draw the attention of entertainers. But it’s the summer of 1999 and anything is possible…

Play as kids, adults, teens, or a mix of all three, as you get caught up in the excitement of newcomers who’ve set up a strange fair on the outskirts of town. There will be fun and games, there will be surprises, and there just may be a mystery or two to unravel.

Hello!!! I've been running around like mad this year!!! As always life is a wild roller coaster of ups and downs, but starting to produce and DM the show @acourtofkings has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done.

I stepped away from stage management a few years ago for a number of reasons, but it left a huge hole in my heart. A year and a half ago I picked up running games and it lit up the things that made my brain go brrrr while stage managing.

Stage management is an intense blend of having a clear path of Things That Need Doing, while having a million backup plans in the case the best laid plans go awry. DMing is a lot of that (shout out to all those who also love to make spreadsheets, docs, and pull at, and organize, your creative partners ideas), PLUS you get the thrill of the unknown as you actively create something new with your friends (or incredibly creative strangers you get the pleasure to collaborate with).

I knew pretty much from the start that this was going to end up with producing an actual play show. I'm so so glad that @leopard.killa came along and pushed me to do it alongside them. Thank you so so much for the joy that you and this show have brought to my life this year.

I've now had the joy of playing d&d with some of my most beloved friends and artistic inspirations in front of both friends and strangers alike. I can't wait to do it more and more and more.

Thank you to @mellyallison for these beautiful photos from our last show. by @nottoyeild

Your crew has been hired for a job. Steal back Carly Rae Jepsen’s unreleased music. Over 200 tracks worth.

In this cyberpop one shot we will be executing a classic heist? Are you The Fixer? The Muscle? The Inside Man? All have their place, and all are needed to get back Carly Rae Jepsen’s music from a greedy executive’s hands.

Is that a bird, a plane, is that…a one-shot Carly Rae Jepsen themed heist??? It just might be! Form your own heist and free Carly Rae’s unreleased music from the hands of evil space tycoons. It is many years into the future. A wealthy and powerful person [or persons] has claimed a rare and much sought after prize: the “vault” of 200 unreleased songs from renowned Earth pop artist Carly Rae Jepsen. Hired by an anonymous sponsor, your team of highly trained individuals will raid a well-defended location to retrieve said item.
