Yet its status as such is not straightforward; it is in fact a miniature, a rendition from memory of a much larger painting, 50,000 Jahre Sehr Profi, a work that measured a sobering 0.3kmX0.18km. I was lucky enough once to see it, at a great distance, an eclipse arced by swifts, gathering its own weather. This was until its tragic destruction in The Fire and, as I am sure none of us can forget, the dreadful Subsequent Explosion. 50,000 Jahre Profi is what we’re left with. Map-territory? Oopsie-daisie! Auf den Gipfel der Verschleifung*Iron stand with clamps, Resusci-Anne, concrete, egg tempera, owl casts in plaster and silicone, chicken bones, E.M. Cioran: Die Verfehlte Schöpfung (The New Gods), acrylic paint, upholstery material, eggshell, egg tempera on canvas, dreadlocks (1995), silicone snake, rubber snakes, various antidepressants and sleeping pills · dimensions variable · 2026I had to start parting with books, books belonging to the dead, and one—because it was the most well-thumbed—wanted to be pierced by a lucky bone of a chicken, also because E.M. Cioran‘s writings in German bear such great titles: Die Verfehlte Schöpfung („The Failed Creation“, engl. orig.: The New Gods). The empty egg, the snakes biting their tails, renewal or eternal return. All rejected! Tucked beneath the book is an egg-shaped cutout from an old tempera painting, repainted a thousand times, depicting an egg (Humpty Dumpty) jumping off a mountain, layers of paint on top of each other, different versions of my manic need to find a rhyme for another of Cioran’s titles: Auf den Gipfeln der Verzweiflung (Heights of Despair). There, only an ovulation (Eisprung, „egg leap“) would help. And so the title, Auf den Gipfeln der Verschleifung*, to put an end to it. Pills, placed in a nest made of my 30-year-old dreadlocks that my mother kept, and guarded by three Ouroboros, might also help. A mask from first-aid training, called Resusci-Anne and modeled after the death mask of the famous Unknown Woman from the Seine with her enraptured smile, forms the top of the totem pole; it is a birdbath for the two castings of an owl—a symbol of booksellers—perched on the lucky bone that’s stuck inside the book they’ve pooped on. One face breathes in, the other out. Physical exercise must also take place in one’s living and working space, regularly — so says common sense and the internet, whose algorithm has lately zeroed in on advice for women over 40. First, get out of bed. The stands, made from two bed legs, are heavier than the barbell; only this way can they bear its weight, which rests at a tilt on the wobbly, concrete-cast hands that already look incapable of bearing any load. An amputated finger is makeshift-replaced by a plastic one, sourced from a bundle of artificial fingers used to display nail designs — salvaged from an abandoned nail salon.#nouckawolf #kammercore#BreatheInBreatheOut #sculpture by @nouchka_wolf
