Before Nouriche had a name people knew, it had Jack. 🤍 @jack__frerichs

My firstborn was my very first employee. He joined me in year two of my bone broth journey, back when he was a sophomore in high school. He stood beside me through some of the hardest days of building this business, and whenever I was second-guessing everything, he was the calm in the room.

He has the kindest, gentlest spirit I’ve ever known, and I’m so proud to be his Mama.

Some of my favorite memories are the two of us racing to see who could get all the broth containers into the ice bath the fastest. 🧊 (I’ll never tell who won.)

Now he’s a sophomore at Oregon State, studying mechanical engineering. I still try to talk him into working a shift at the shop when he’s home, and once in a while he says yes. 😉

Jack, I hope you cherish our time in the kitchen as much as I do. I’m so proud of the amazing young man you’re becoming! I love you so much 💕💕

You could learn a lot from a skeleton.

The hardest journey is often traveling the 18” distance from your head to your heart. Consider what it would be like if your head wasn’t even in the equation at all. If you were able to be fully present in your heart space, what would show up for you in this moment?

My invitation to you, on this Halloween night, is this:

🖤Find a seat, sit up tall, relax your jaw.
🖤Close your eyes if it feels safe, or softly gaze down toward the ground.
🖤Breathe in through your nose and feel your chest and ribs expand.
🖤Pause. Observe. Peel back any judgments and simply notice how you feel right here, right now.

Adding flavor and nutrients to my menu, with @nourichebroth

Getting to use a product I believe in, from a woman I admire, makes menu creation for my clients even more exciting. by @nourichebroth

The number three has always been an auspicious number for me.

I’ve traveled to Italy three times in the last year, and this third trip has been complete confirmation of how things seem to be unfolding in my life.

I hope these words I’m sharing with you resonate if they are meant to 💕.

I pray that the present moment will always be shared with those you love 🙏.

I love you all so much

Fall menu announcement! I’ve teamed up with @nourichebroth to bring even more nutrient density and flavor to my menu items. Here’s where I’m using this product:

Soups and stews
Cooking grains, legumes and sauces
Meatballs, curries and more!

Nouriche Broth is the creation of DeDe Frerichs, it’s small batch and women owned; created with the upmost care. Here’s what @nourichebroth is all about:

Hand-sourced ingredients specifically from LOCAL FARMS that use sustainable livestock practices.

Ingredients free of herbicides, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, or synthetic fertilizers. In other words, you know exactly what you’re getting when you read their label. And you know it will be good.

Slow cooking parts of the chicken many modern broth manufacturers throw out in order to create the nutrient-dense, collagen-rich, mouth-watering foundation of our line of broths.

I’m so pleased to bring this product to Meals by Lena.

You can find her products: @wellspentmarket, @marketofchoice and at local farmers markets.

A beautiful woman by the name of Lisa used to live across the street from us. She had the most amazing Dahlia garden you can ever imagine, more than 120 different varieties blooming in her front yard toward the end of Summer. I would watch her tend to those beauties day after day after day. I know those flowers meant more to her than the physical beauty on the outside. She wanted to share the colors, textures and overall plant magic with her neighbors. I think deep down that’s one of the reasons she chose that plot of land to grow them in.

I bought these dahlias today at the store, thinking of my neighbor Lisa as I was checking out. The cashier commented on the unique color they were. I told her about Lisa, and she could hardly believe it. The fact that a person would dedicate all that time and effort and money to a front yard that would normally be dead, brown grass this time of year.

She asked me if the dahlias are still there and I told her no, they’re not. Lisa moved back to her home town in the east coast a few years ago.

I realized something monumental as I turned away from the cashier to leave the store.

Lisa’s gift to her fellow neighbors wasn’t just about growing a beautiful garden. It was sharing one of the biggest life lessons a person can ever learn. She wanted all of us to remember that nothing lasts forever. One of the most tender parts of Life is the simple fact that things come and go, and we are simply here to witness the beauty (and sometimes the heartbreak) while it’s in front of our eyes.

Thank you, Lisa for sharing your Love with all of us

We’re hiking in the forest because when your cells are this energized, staying inside feels wrong.!!

Your lymphatic system — which facial Gua Sha, from a cosmetic standpoint, is also working on — has no pump of its own. Walking is its pump. Every step you take is circulating the cellular waste products out of your tissue and returning fresh nutrient-rich blood to every cell in your body. Fifteen to thirty minutes of walking during the reset is not optional. It is part of the medicine.

This forest has its own medicine too. The phytoncides released by these trees are measurably lowering your cortisol right now. Your natural killer cell activity is increasing. This is not metaphor. This is biology 🌱
