‘Soft Boundaries’ captures what it feels like to be in close contact with others; how we as humans, cultures or societies bend, shift, and sometimes stretch ourselves to make space, yet still remain who we are. These soft, inflated forms reflect the tension between comfort and discomfort that comes with adapting and coexisting in shared spaces, all while holding onto our identities.

The artwork is exhibited @royalacademyarts Summer Exhibition, from June 17th to August 17th. A huge thank you to the Royal Academy of Arts and @farshidmoussavi for selecting my work to be part of this year’s show ‘Dialogue’

In moments of uncertainty like the ones we are living through, the grounding presence of family becomes a place to find clarity and courage – a truth embodied by twin sisters Rania and Nourine Hammad. Bound by creativity, intuition, and a deep belief in each other’s voice, the pair move between art and fashion with instinctive ease. For Rania – a style enthusiast and disability advocate living between Dubai and Cairo – fashion became a language of resilience after losing her leg in 2018 when she was six months pregnant and struck by a train. “Getting dressed isn’t just about looking good; it’s about reclaiming space,” she says, often transforming her prosthetic into a statement – from shimmering red to purple leopard print. For Nourine, a visual artist working between London and Dubai, expression unfolds through form and colour. “Rania roots for me even when I’m not in the room,” she shares, describing a bond where each sister carries the other’s work into new spaces.
