Nourish: fed by community is my first book!! Co-written and co-created with my best friend @jocollective. 🥹 I’m grateful of so much about this project but I couldn’t be more grateful for how well we communicate and collaborate with each other. This has been 9 months in the making!

I’m so proud of the images I created for this project, they are some of my favourites to date. Though, I’m honestly most proud that I was able to write some beautiful words to accompany them. If you don’t know it’s kinda hard for me to keep it to the point….

A massive thank you to:
The Heartbreak Chef Jerome Robinson @theheartbreakchef
Uzma & Ali of @rakabi.rakabi
Niko & Maria of Serano Bakery @seranobakery
Mercy Kwawu
Christine Flynn @christineanneflynn @driftersrest
Shivani Srivastava @qushivani @shivs.kitchen
Katelyn Powers of K Powers Design Inc @kp_powers for the covers and illustrations

Thank you to everyone that shared their stories, traditions, art, recipes and spaces with us.

Finally, thank you to everyone that’s already purchased a copy! If we didn’t mention before 20% of your purchase goes to FoodShare Toronto @foodshareto !!!

IT’S HERE 😭

After months of listening, learning, cooking, photographing, and sharing stories, NOURISH is finally in the world. This book brings together chefs, home cooks, and community members from pockets of the country, all connected by the ways food carries culture, memory, and love across generations.

We are so proud of this book, and deeply honoured to have collaborated with everyone who shared their kitchens, their recipes, and their stories with us. Each page reflects generosity, care, and trust.

NOURISH is now available at the link in our bio. We can’t wait for you to hold it, cook from it, and share it around your own table.

Love,

Lizzie & Jo

Christine Flynn’s cooking is shaped by experience, season, and family.

Years in professional kitchens taught her technique, but life at home is where that knowledge is practiced and passed on. Cooking happens alongside parenting, work, and daily routines. Meals are built from what’s on hand, what’s in season, and what needs nourishing in that moment.

During our time together, food was made slowly and thoughtfully. Seasonal vegetables. Bread baked fresh. A chicken smoked outdoors. A child running nearby, helping when she could, learning by watching and doing.

Christine’s story reminds us that food knowledge is often passed down quietly. Through proximity. Through repetition. Through being part of the process.

Her approach reflects a belief that good food doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. It needs care, attention, and time spent together.

Christine’s story is part of NOURISH, our community-led cookbook shaped by generosity, trust, and the many ways food connects generations.

NOURISH will be available for order this Friday, February 20, 2026 at the link in our bio.

Rakabi began at home.

Uzma Ahmed and Ali Amarshi grew up in households where hosting was instinctive. Friends always gathered around the table. Food was how care was shown. It was never something that needed explaining, just something you did.

That way of being was passed down. Today, @rakabi.rakabi is their way of carrying it forward.

Neither Uzma nor Ali comes from a formal culinary background. What they bring instead is memory, curiosity, and respect for the regional diversity of the South Asian cuisines they grew up with. Familiar flavours are honoured, not replicated exactly. Recipes are adapted, reimagined, and shaped by who they are now.

As first-generation Canadians, Rakabi also holds space for identity. For showing parts of themselves that once felt easier to hide, and inviting others to do the same.

The name rakabi means “serving dish” in Urdu. A vessel. A place where food, story, and community meet.

Rakabi’s story is part of NOURISH, our community-led cookbook shaped by generosity, care, and trust.

Mercy cooks with family at the center.

She prepares food for her community in large quantities, carrying traditions learned over a lifetime. On the day we visited, her children, daughter-in-law, and newborn grandchild were all present.

Moments like this remind us how culture moves through care, trust, and shared meals.

If you know the Danforth, you know @seranobakery. What you might not know, is that Serano’s began long before the storefront.

In the summer of 1981, Chris was learning to bake in a small village in northern Greece, working with flour, dough, and persistence. Years later, that knowledge travelled with him to Toronto. In 1994, alongside his wife Sophia and his brother Kosta, he opened Serano’s Bakery in Greektown.

What followed was years of early mornings, shared labour, and family showing up for one another. Recipes shaped by tradition. Desserts made the way they always had been, with care, repetition, and love.

As the next generation grew up inside the bakery, that knowledge didn’t stop. It expanded. The family later opened @cafeserano just a few blocks away, carrying those same values forward into a new space.

This story is about more than (extremely delicious) pastries. It’s about what gets passed down. Skills learned by watching. Traditions adapted over time. A kitchen that feels like Yiayia’s, even when it’s feeding a city.

Serano’s story is part of NOURISH, our community-led cookbook shaped by generosity, care, and trust.

Shivani’s (@shivs.kitchen) cooking centres the dishes we return to again and again.

Recipes learned from family. Meals tied to memory. Food passed down through repetition rather than instruction.

This project has been built on trust and generosity, and stories like this are why.

Jerome Robinson calls The Heartbreak Chef the best comfort food in North America, and watching him work, it’s easy to understand why.

He cooks with focus, intention, and pride. Sometimes solo. Sometimes after hours. Always prepared. Whether he’s feeding a few people or catering for dozens, the care is the same. Organized, steady, and deeply rooted in the belief that good food comes from showing up fully.

This is food made by someone who knows that comfort is built through consistency, attention, and respect for the people you’re feeding.

Jerome’s story is part of NOURISH, our community-led cookbook shaped by generosity, trust, and the ways food carries culture across generations.
