It feels like I blinked, and here we are.

This is how NOVA came about, and looking back and reflecting on the hard work, sweat and tears that were put into creating NOVA and bringing me to where I am today makes me incredibly proud and grateful for the friends and family who supported every step of it.

FITSQR was built on love, passion and all of my savings being invested. We truly believed in it so it didn’t matter. The timing was so off because of COVID but the support of the community and on demand subscribers quickly made it all worthwhile. FITSQR became an online business and we had so much fun filming.

However, after m becoming a mother, I knew I had to step back on some level but I wasn’t sure what was next for me.

Once I discovered Power Yoga and Power Pilates, I knew I wanted to share it with everyone. I decided to get right back to work and rebrand to NOVA. Here we are today, with the launch of NOVA around the corner I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on. by @novamoves

Here are 8 facts that everyone should know about when it comes to sculpting your body and weight-loss.

Save these for future reference! Also, next time someone says to skip the carbs (complex carbs that is!) to help you with weight loss, please remember this post. Which one surprised you?

Consistency over intensity: Regular workouts lead to lasting changes
Nutrition matters: Whole foods are key for weight loss and energy
Rest aids growth: Recovery is crucial for muscle repair and tone
Core exercises tone: Pilates and core workouts define your midsection
Sleep affects weight: Good sleep regulates hunger hormones
Hydration supports fat loss: Water aids digestion and reduces cravings
Protein preserves muscle: Eating enough protein supports your muscle retention
Complex carbs boost workout burn: Post workout carbs are essential

Hii I did a photoshoot recently @holiak.photography and one of @novamoves trainers @toshaagius!

Thought this would be a great time to share some strategies on getting started with workouts 🤍

Have you heard of the “Two-Minute Rule” from productivity expert James Clear for getting started?

Believe it or not, even though this could sound way too easy it can be such an effective too0l in building some positive momentum and reducing the mental barriers that make us overwhelmed when starting a new fitness program.

Key ways to apply this:

Start small: start with 2 minutes of stretching 3-4x/week. Things like stretches, planks or a few yoga poses will do the trick.

Be consistent: remember consistency is KEY. Over time, you’ll become comfortable doing it and your time will go from 2 minutes, to 5 to 10 to 20 gradually.

No pressure to be perfect: movement is the goal in the beginning. Don’t feel like you didn’t do “enough” in the beginning. The beginning is just about getting started.

Build momentum: when you feel like you’ve mastered the shorter time intervals of doing some sort of exercise, build up to longer intervals and stay consistent.

Celebrate your small wins: After a week or two, allow yourself to feel excited about taking action to become more active. Remind yourself every week that you are already taking action and that the hardest part is sometimes getting started. by @novamoves

Short on time? Try this 16 minute core sculpting workout if you want to give your body an incredible core challenge

This is some of our favourite exercises from today’s @novamoves shoot! (We launch in a few weeks EEEKKK)

Guidelines
1. Set hour timer or stopwatch
2. Go really easy on the first set (use it as a warmup)
3. Perform each movement with control and don’t use momentum
4. Exhale on the difficult movement and inhale on the movement that feels easier
5. Make every rep count consciously (mind-body connection)

1 minute per exercise x2 then move onto the next exercise
Repeat

Thank you @ldamms_ for the power moves xox by @novamoves
