One object, one word. In 1906 a young Lucian Bernhard entered a poster contest for Priester matches. Legend has it he kept removing things — the ashtray, the cigar, everything else on the table — until only two matches and the brand name were left. It won, and the Sachplakat, the “object poster”, was born. It travelled well: from Berlin to Switzerland, where it went on for another half-century — a coat, a pen, a cough sweet, each one alone on the sheet with its name. A hundred and twenty years later it is still the most useful rule we know for a poster that has to live in a home. A living room already has enough objects in it. The form is closed. We expected a quiet first call under a new name. That is not what happened, and we are still a little surprised about it. Posters arrived from more countries than we have ever hung in one room. Thank you — all of it is now sitting in one folder, which is a strange and good thing to look at. What happens now: we go through every paid application the way we promised — full screen, no name attached, one question. Everyone hears from us, selected or not. Then: the site, the wall at Ovo Slovo, and an opening in Belgrade. We'll keep you posted. The third-best is usually the one you are not sure about — and it is the one a stranger stops in front of, because it wasn't made to impress anybody. We are not selecting for a jury.
