For three days, we’re bringing contemporary art to one of Alkmaar’s oldest buildings. The 16th-century Kapelkerk will be filled with artworks, artists, students, live music and visitors from different parts of the world.

Step into a space where different cultures, perspectives and stories meet. Discover and purchase artworks, meet the participating artists and take part in a printmaking workshop led by artist and designer @isidejongh of Stone Lantern Art & Design. His work, alongside artworks created by the students, will also be on display.

Live music will be performed by the @nhbensemble 🎶

Students from @inhollandalkmaar, @hochschulemittweida and @universidaddearagoza are taking an active role in organising and promoting the exhibition. It’s a great opportunity for them to get closer to the art world and learn what goes into creating an exhibition, with Inholland and Novus Arte guiding them throughout the process.

Feed bags, billboard tarps, shipping crates, copper scrap and used coffee filters walk into an art fair…

Minneapolis-based artist @nathanterborg finds his materials in construction dumpsters, farm sheds and on the street close to his studio. Then he burns, tears, melts and carves them until they look as if they grew that way.

Swipe through his works and his own words to learn what really drives this artist. Then come and see them up close at @artthehague, the works will on show until 18 October.

This fairs edition’s theme is ‘’Value’’, which fits an artist who finds it where nobody else thinks to look twice.

718 nails, 40 hours and one Brazilian bird 🦜

‘’Canário’’ by @luiza.landa is the second work from the ‘’Aves Brasileiras’’ collection, a series exploring Brazilian birds through string art.

Created entirely by hand using paint, nails and thread, each bird takes shape one nail and one thread at a time. The collection will eventually feature 6-7 birds from Brazilian wildlife, with the goal of bringing the complete series together for a special exhibition.

@nathanterborg works in-between art and environmental issues

The American abstract artist builds layered, textured works from discarded and reclaimed materials like billboard tarp, packing plastic and feed bags, found in dumpsters, streams and along the side of the road.

Things most of us would throw away are transformed into compositions you want to stand in front of for a while. As Nathan puts it: “Material with a past life has its own story to tell.” That makes his work a fitting answer to this year’s Art The Hague theme: Value.

Artworks by Iranian artist @salmankhoshroo

Salman Khoshroo pushes the boundaries of polymer in his captivating Polymer Series. Working with thick, gummy layers of tinted primary colors, black and white, Khoshroo shapes gestural busts with a striking balance of spontaneity and precision.

The series emerged from his ongoing exploration of materials and their artistic potential. “This material is very gestural on its own: The pieces dance and wrestle with this sticky substance to shape it into its final human forms.”

Something about the texture makes us want to eat it, almost like it's a delicious cake 😅
