Sound artist @ianewellman works with what most of us never hear. Using stereo pair microphones and a hydrophone, he records the ocean from the inside: hermit crabs, snapping shrimp in the tide pools, and the waves themselves, transmitted live from Venice Beach. As LUMINEX expands, we're building a community of people who believe in the power of art to inspire curiosity, connection, and cultural vitality. Be part of what comes next. At LUMINEX, we bring Art + Technology + Nature into conversation, exploring how creativity can deepen our connection to the natural world and inspire new ways of imagining our future. The Infinite Between November 8 | Venice Beach Free and open to everyone. Art needs experimentation. Contemporary art is not just about the finished object. The most vital part of the creative process happens much earlier. It lives in the questions, the failed tests, and the conversations that allow an idea to take shape. Experimentation requires space. Space to test without pressure. Space to cross disciplines. Space to gather, question, and evolve. This thinking drives Phthalo Creative, the NOW Art incubator in Downtown Los Angeles. Phthalo is a home for experimentation, dialogue, gatherings, and exhibitions, bringing artists together to explore ideas without a predetermined destination. Give ideas room to evolve.
