Who else misses their mom’s or dad’s cooking? What was your favorite thing that they made?

Growing up, eating dinner at the table was always the main event. We dive into our favorite home cooked meals around our families and other loved ones while we’re younger. As we age, we realize how much we try to recreate those times and make magic again by learning recipes and sharing meals with each other.

Whether you’re Filipino, Vietnamese, Latinx, Black, etc, there’s nothing quite like magic of a home cooked meal shared among people you love.

Do you know how to cook for yourself?

Growing up Asian American, our families ate delicious food and had meals family style. We learned to dine, eat and love the way they taught us.

We never learned how to cook smaller portions but we did learn how to feed our friends and family in the process. Family style cooking and eating in Asian households (Filipino and Vietnamese) is great for feeding groups people and, in most cases, meal prep when you have too much food.

One of the things that bring and continue to bring Emi and Feliz together as friends is food. We love eating it, cooking it, sharing it, and talking about it. In our many discussions and hangouts, we found that food is one of the highest forms for showing love to someone simply because it covers so 3 out of the 5 main love languages.

In this episode, we get into the different ways we show love and have been shown love with food, some of our favorite foods, and fun and wholesome anecdotes about food specific experiences.

Hot take: Baths are enjoyable only when you can fit fully and comfortably in the tub. Do you take baths?

Emi and Feliz talk about how baths aren’t their preferred method for self care. Baths take too long and if you’re not under a certain size can be uncomfortable in a standard sized bathtub. We won’t try to yuck your yum by taking baths ain’t for us.
