A 47 years old male patient presented to NRSMCH on 08/07/2026 with acute abdominal pain. USG suggested appendicular pathology and also detected two gallbladder stones.

He was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, underwent emergency appendectomy, and postoperative histopathology confirmed appendicitis.
Patient left against medical advice on 10/08/2026.

After that, unfortunately, we all witnessed a social media trial. Sitting MLA from Beleghata Constituency, publicly alleged that the appendix had been removed “by mistake” instead of the gallbladder, effectively putting NRSMCH doctors on trial before the facts had been properly verified.

Following these allegations, an enquiry committee examined the clinical records, investigations, operative details and histopathology and found no deviation from treatment protocol and no error in patient management.

So what remains of the allegation?

The medical record does not support it.
The histopathology does not support it.
The enquiry does not support it.

A responsible elected representative should reduce confusion, not amplify it; protect public trust, not undermine it; and verify facts before questioning the integrity of doctors and a government medical institution.

If doctors are expected to answer for every clinical decision, public representatives must also answer for the consequences of their public statements.

NRS RDA therefore calls upon the concerned MLA to publicly acknowledge the enquiry findings, withdraw statements inconsistent with the established record, and offer an unconditional public apology to NRSMCH and its doctors.

Last, but not the least, We believe in a strong and mutually respectful doctor–patient relationship. We believe in care, compassion and cure.

We sincerely appeal to the people: please do not accept or amplify any claim without first verifying the facts. Misinformation and unverified allegations only create mistrust between patients and doctors and ultimately weaken the healthcare system we all depend upon.

Let facts guide our judgement, and trust be built on truth.

NRS RDA stands firmly with the protesting doctors of M.L.N. Medical College & S.R.N Hospital, Prayagraj.

Violence inside a hospital is not merely an attack on doctors; it is an attack on the entire healthcare system and on patient care itself. Doctors work day and night to save lives, often in overcrowded, stressful, and emotionally charged situations. No healthcare worker should be expected to serve under fear, intimidation, or threat to personal safety.

The protesting doctors are not asking for privilege — they are asking for the most basic right: a safe workplace. A hospital must remain a zone of healing, trust, and protection, not a place where healthcare workers are abused or assaulted.

We strongly condemn any form of violence, vandalism, intimidation, or obstruction of medical services. We demand a fair and impartial inquiry, strict action against those responsible, and immediate measures to ensure the safety of resident doctors and all healthcare staff.

The safety of doctors is directly linked to the safety of patients. Protecting doctors means protecting healthcare.

Stop violence against doctors.
Respect healers.

🫁✨ A Historic Milestone in Pulmonary Medicine at NRS Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata!

When skill, science, and teamwork come together — history is created.

For the first time in the history of NRS Medical College & Hospital, and likely the first in any government medical college in West Bengal, our team has successfully performed a Whole Lung Lavage (WLL) — a highly specialized and technically demanding procedure used to treat Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP).

A 33-year-old male patient presented with progressive breathlessness. His bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) tested PAS-positive, and transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) confirmed the diagnosis of Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis — a rare disease where a thick, protein-like substance accumulates inside the air sacs of the lungs, preventing oxygen from reaching the bloodstream.

💧 Under general anesthesia with double-lumen intubation, the right lung was washed with 15 liters of warm saline until the returning fluid became clear — effectively cleansing the lung from within. The patient tolerated the procedure well and is recovering smoothly. The left lung lavage is planned after stabilization.

This remarkable achievement was made possible through seamless coordination between

💉 Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia (led by Prof. Dr. Sampa Dutta Gupta).
Our heartfelt appreciation to both departments and to every member of the procedural, anesthesia, and ICU teams for their relentless effort, skill, and teamwork.
This milestone not only marks a proud chapter in the journey of NRS Medical College & Hospital, but also demonstrates how advanced interventional pulmonary care is being successfully delivered within a government healthcare setup — making cutting-edge treatment accessible to all.

আজকে উলুবেড়িয়া শরৎচন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায় মেডিকেল কলেজের বিক্ষোভরত ডাক্তারদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে উলুবেড়িয়া থেকে WBJDF- এর সদস্যদের বক্তব্য।

নিরাপদ কর্মস্থলের দাবিতে একদিনের প্রতীকী পেন ডাউন কর্মসূচি পালন করলেন বিক্ষোভরত ডাক্তাররা, তারই সাথে উলুবেড়িয়া কোর্টের তরফ থেকে অভিযুক্ত তিন অপরাধীকে তিন দিনের পুলিশি হেফাজতের নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

পরবর্তী শুনানি সোমবার, তার দিকে আমাদের সকলের নজর থাকবে। একটি দৃষ্টান্তমূলক পদক্ষেপ মহামান্য আদালতের কাছ থেকে আমরা আশা করছি। কিন্তু বিচার বিভাগীয় বা প্রশাসনিক কর্মকর্তাদের সাথে আমাদের পূর্ব অভিজ্ঞতা সন্দেহের উর্ধ্বে নয় তাই আমাদের নজর থাকবে সোমবারের শুনানির দিকে। by @nrsmch_rda
