I created an energy suit that was meant for protection and extension of new senses. The concept of the suit was to eliminate the human body and use mirrors to reflect light to represent a beacon or power source. I wanted to focus on my surroundings and fuse it with my suit so that they would compliment each other. I was inspired by Nick Cave’s suits and wanted to replicate the use of repetition of a singular material like Cave did for his suits. The mirrors protect me from dark energy in any environment I put myself in. I chose a forest scene because I wanted the suit to reflect the natural light within nature but also allow the viewer a glimpse away from the city. The light is a symbol for positive energy and the suit becomes a beacon absorbing the light around and reflecting it. The feeling of being in nature brings me comfort and when blending my suit into nature it creates an interesting contrast and a sense of peace. The suit is an extension of new senses because it forces me to be blind from everything but my thoughts that allows for an intimate moment with myself. The suit allows me to disconnect from everything visually but also connects me with everything around me. The suit was meant to be immobile and just a beacon or charging point but one thing I really liked was how when I moved in the suit the light would reflect off and create a cool effect.
