→ We welcome Anna Simone Johnson to the NSFW team!

Anna Simone Johnson (b. 2004) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Literary Composition at HDK-Valand.

Her writing is best described as experimental, with the medium often transcending the paper into physical form. In her practice, she explores themes of the mythological and the intimate, both through writing and other art forms using physical and visual media, often in conjunction.

Anna will support the gallery’s curatorial and exhibition-related work, gaining insight into exhibition development and the practical processes behind our artistic program.

[ DOCUMENTATION PART II ]

"Lagrange Point"
by Amina Hocine (SWE) & Majse Vilstrup (DEN)
11 September–16 October

→ Wed-Fri 13:00–17:00
→ Saturday 12:00–15:00

“Lagrange Point” brings together the practices of Amina Hocine and Majse Vilstrup in an exhibition exploring the relationship between seeing and listening, observation and participation. At the centre of the exhibition is a recurring scene: Amina at her self built organ, Majse behind the camera. What initially appears to be a portrait gradually becomes something more vulnerable, a situation in which two people observe, respond to and become attentive to one another. Through sound, drawing and sculpture, the exhibition explores what happens when looking and listening become reciprocal acts.

Second artist announcement: Amina Hocine!

→ Amina Hocine is a composer and sound artist based in Stockholm. She holds a Master’s degree in electroacoustic composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and works across composition, sound sculpture and self-built instruments. Her practice explores sound as a spatial and embodied phenomenon, with a particular interest in deep listening, resonance and the relationship between sound and architecture. Recent works include TORNMUSIK – for sculpture, presented at the Swedish Institute in Paris, alongside acousmatic and notated compositions presented across Europe. For this exhibition, Amina has created a suspended sound sculpture positioned in the centre of the room, with individual pipes directed towards Majse’s drawings, creating a sonic relationship between the sculpture and the images.

First artist announcement: Majse Vilstrup!

→ Majse Vilstrup is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Copenhagen, working across film, drawing, and installation. Her work departs from a curiosity in ‘the social being’ and the subtle dynamics that emerge when we encounter one another - how we subconsciously ignite, mirror and negotiate our ways of interacting. She has studied at Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Malmö Art Academy and holds a Master’s degree from the MFA programme in Film at HDK-Valand. Alongside her drawing practice, Majse is currently in late production with her coming feature debut DIRECT ME! (supported by the Danish Film Institute). For this exhibition, Majse has made two wide drawings shaped as a window frame. The drawings are made using an evolved technique of working with dry pastels on velour paper.

Our fall exhibition is here!

The works unfold slowly. Drawings are activated by sound, while sound also exists as a work in its own right. Image and sound do not illustrate one another, but occupy a shared space, creating shifting points of attention. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the exhibition leaves room for perception to develop over time. Meaning emerges through proximity, repetition, listening and response.

The title “Lagrange Point” refers to a position in space where two bodies can remain in relation to one another, held in a delicate equilibrium. Here, this becomes a metaphor for the space between two people, between looking and being looked at, between listening and being heard. Their collaboration is built around a shared investigation of attention. In a cultural landscape shaped by visibility, self expression and the constant production of meaning, Lagrange Point considers what it might mean to make room for another person, for uncertainty and for the things and motifs that can only emerge through sustained attention.

More information about the artists and the exhibition will be shared in the coming days!

Have a great weekend / NSFW

"Cat Deluxe at Night"
by Elin Meijer & Mathilda Läckberg Holmquist
26 June – 25 July 2026

→ Wed-Fri 17:00–20:00
→ Saturday 12:00–15:00

“Cat Deluxe at Night” brings together the practices of Mathilda Läckberg Holmquist and Elin Meijer in an immersive exhibition of photography and textile at NSFW, Gothenburg.

Rooted in a shared photographic archive from 2009–2012, the project revisits the formative years of adolescence through previously undisclosed, private photographs that remained forgotten for years. Marked by the aesthetics and artefacts of the era, the exhibition moves through past and current relationships, fading memories and grand dreams.

Paying homage to the intensity of youth, “Cat Deluxe at Night” flirts with the collective memory of teenage life while touching on small-town mentality, the weight of “Jantelagen”, tragicomedy, and kitsch.

Through a seamless interplay of photography, textile and objects, “Cat Deluxe at Night” unfolds as an act of self-reflection. As you move through the preserved fragments of the artists' youth, you are invited to reflect on your own journey. What became of the grand dreams and goals you held back then? What did you leave behind, and what still lingers? -Isabell Elmqvist
