There's a saying that goes "The Night is still Young", and that def applies to October right now. As of me writing this we are only 2 days into the month as the Spooks are just about to crawl out of their hiding places. But we were all young at one point, and there are plenty of peeps who are still young now, which I have to mention enjoy your youth cuz Adulthood will come sooner than you know it... But there's a recent topic of discussion known as "Childhood Trauma" focusing on scary things that happened when we were not old enough to understand complex things yet. I think that's truly sad and to me is another layer of Horror that adds to the confusion of being a kid in general. But it doesn't always have to be serious, even if many real things happened, as when it comes to fiction in the realm of Horror for young audiences it's more about Entertainment as it strips down the graphic content into something more fun and palatable for young minds. And as another saying goes, "You gotta start em young", and that applies to young fans of Horror media as well. So here's a lineup of Kids Horror books movies and shows to enjoy. I want to highlight Monsters Inc right here because the concept is actually so genius, which has Monsters working at a Scare Factory going into Door Portals to scare kids in order to harvest Energy for Fuel or whatever it's used for, and the arc of Sullivan and Mike Wazowski eventually befriending a kid named Boo, it's one I have so much fondness for and is one of the grestest Pixar classics of all time. Others here include the all-time beloved Cartoon Network classic Courage the Cowardly Dog, Goosebumps, Monster House, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Scooby Doo, Haunted Mansion, Ghostbusters, Hotel Transylvania, Adams Family, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Gargoyles, The Munsters, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Scary Stories to tell in the Dark, FNAF, and the Haunting Hour. All of these are classics in one way or another and are great to get youngins into this dark world of the Horror genre. Looking back at our first steps into Horror and seeing where we ended up is a nice way to pay homage and get newer generations into Horror which I think is pretty dope. by @nshadex

Alright yall, guess what month it is... That's right, it's October. And you know what that means? It's time... To get Spooked!! Every October I dedicate this month as Spooktober and exlcusively post Horror content all throughout until Halloween. This is where I also cram all my media engaging to the Horror genre, in all the media types like Books, Movies, Shows, Games, Comics, YouTubers, and Music that sounds scary regardless of genre. To kick this month off I'm making a classic Horror post with a bunch of Horror wallpapers to appetize your growing interest in the month that is to follow. I genuinely love Horror so much as someone who's a fan of weird, bizarre, strange and odd media, as those descriptors just work so well in Horror. But the Vibes of these wallpapers are especially something that I can't get enough of. The creepy mystic atmosphere of these legit has me giddy from just how dark they are. Like they give me downloading iPhone games in like 2008 or 2009 Vibes for some reason lol. My favs include the Bedroom with what looks like an Easel in the front, the Dark Forests, the Zombies in the Cemetaries, the Hospital Hallways with one having a Girl standing next to some Gurneys, and the creepy close up shot of a Woman's face with a Dark Forest behind her. These are just pure Vibes man. Like idk what else to tell you. It just makes me glad that these were the results upon looking up Horror Wallpapers in Google Images as I was blessed with a bunch of Gems to share with you all. And it's making me so excited for Spooktober as I have some more bangers to bless your feeds with too, oh boy am I hyped for that. I'll admit, I am so glad that the Seasons are now Autumn and Winter again. The Weather is cold, the Nighttime comes early, the Leaves Fall and turn Orange + Brown and then wither as the Snow arrives... I wait every single year for this, and the reward for my Patience that pays off are some of the greatest experiences ever. It's such a chill, calm, and great Vibe that I will cherish for the months that will last. And Spooky Season is just the icing on that cake. So let's have a blast as Spooktober has arrived to scare us all over again. Raaaahhhh!! 🎃👻🧛🏻 by @nshadex

It's my birthday today!!!! 🥳🎂🎇🛍️🎁🎈🎀🪅🎊🎉🪩🧧
I turn 28 today... Wow, dude. Damn. I am getting old. I am becoming Unc. I am almost 30 which to me is Unc status. I've been around for a long time, a very long time at this point. And I still got so many more years of my life left. I've seen a lot of things come and go and I will see a lot more things come and go. You know it is starting to get to me how Growing Pains are a part of getting older. I am not at the point of back breaking aches, but I am indeed aging. With each trip around the sun comes another outlook or perspective on life. The reward for making it here is a personal celebration of being on the day you were born, full of presents, confetti, cakes, and cheer. A personal holiday if you will. But the fact that I made it here only proves that all my dreams, all my days where I failed yet tried again, all my days of almost giving up yet taking another step forward, and all my efforts making it to this point, haven't been for nought. I am proud of getting to this point and you should be too. And to me the reward is big as all those countless days spending time going through that dark tunnel eventually did lead me to the light, that being everyone I met on Instagram here. I'll be genuinely honest with you, I am so damn grateful for you all. I get to post stuff that I like and find a community that likes the same or similar things. This was what I dreamed of a decade ago and the fact that it's now a reality only proves that belief can manifest into something real. This especially goes out to Jester @cyberjester0000000000 Julie @lotusvalentines Nathan Vertil @the_artender_ Mijin @cyberismfrontiers Devin “Dubtros” Desir @artimoltros Axel Cuevana @axel_ax_cu7 ennelie @ennelieduo Weet @_.weeterpilly._ and more for being my closest peeps here. You all are so awesome and are the reason why I keep going. And I do thank everyone for all the birthday wishes, truly it does mean a lot. Truly. Birthdays are indeed so great, as it's like a 2nd Christmas where the reward for getting thru the year is full of surprises presents fun and good times all around. I hope this 28th year of life will be worth living in. by @nshadex

Alright, gather round kids, Unc here will teach you all an important History Lesson... The beginnings of the Internet you all know and love today started in the mid-90s into the early 2000s. In this era, pages would load extremely slowly and the basic HTML format was used as a structure. The Internet was a wild west, one where not much of anything existed but what did exist was full of scattered, sporadic sites dedicated to different niches and stuff. There was no centralized hubs like we have now, like a Downtown where most of the traffic goes to, it was more like rural areas distant from civilization. But that all changed in August of 2003 where the first Social Network to ever gain popularity went online... That being MySpace. Things like Usernames, Profiles, Followings and Friend Lists were introduced, what we all take for granted today was at one time a new concept. And much like with YouTube, the overall theme in this era was personal as you could have My Space, aka YOUR Space, to Broadcast YOURself. But what made MySpace unique was its culture, as it was mostly dedicated to Music, but a subculture that formed on and was closely associated with the site was known as Scene kids, whose styles derived from Emos and Mall Goths but had more colorful fashion with garish androgynous hairstyles and quirky Rawr xD type personalities. But I want to look at an interesting trend that was around during the Scene era... Remember when a lot of Bands had Neon Monster Merch? Well that also applies to some of the Album covers too. These are... Weird. Like these have rough edges yet are quirky at the same time, it's a type of weirdness that could only come out of Scene culture. And as you can imagine it was perfect for Hot Topic. I'll admit, I wish I got into this music back then, as all I had access to were the slop pop on the radio, but if I turned on Bands like My Chemical Romance I mean idk I would've loved it. But this was another fun look back into the origins of Internet culture as we know it, and while the reason why sites like Facebook took off is bc it was for a general audience as opposed to a specific niche, I'll always cherish MySpace as a great predecessor. by @nshadex

The Bloghouse scene is one of the more unique sides to the spectrum of EDM. According to RateYourMusic, Bloghouse is an Internet-based movement from the mid-to-late-2000s which broadly distilled scenes most associated with online music blogging, mp3-sharing and remix culture, intersecting within Dance styles such as Electroclash, Electro House, New Rave and Nu-Disco in a brash and carefree fashion. The Internet was evolving with access to obscure underground art being more possible than ever, with sites like Bandcamp SoundCloud and of course YouTube being a haven for artists to upload directly and easily circulate to garner a large fanbase, with free mp3 downloads and torrent sites like Napster and Limewire making music discovery far more palatable. In terms of Niche music scenes, Bloghouse was one of the first to pioneer this digital ecosystem that we often take for granted today. But as an aesthetic it is honestly quite interesting to see its visual themes. Key motifs include American Apparel, shutter shades, and neon tones, and Key values include DIY ethos, hipster elements, PLUR, sexuality, music piracy, and tackiness. Notable Musicians include ones like A-Trak, Bloody Beetroots, Boys Noize, Crystal Castles, Daft Punk, Digitalism, Justice, MSTRKRFT, SebastiAn, Soulwax, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I'll admit, I have a vague memory of seeing these long ago, as some of the music I was listening to on Pandora and posting on Facebook back in 2013 was Bloghouse-coded. One example is the Electro House duo Mustard Pimp which I was introduced to by a Google+ user named Cicero Faur who also got me into Soul Eater for the first time, dude was dope as hell fr. The pop duo LMFAO also has ties to Bloghouse, yes the Every Day I'm Shufflin guys, as well as Steve Aoki and his label Dim Mak, and the Electro House duo The Toxic Avenger, and while Ninja Sex Party might not be Bloghouse they do have their influences and remind me of the movement. The impact that Bloghouse made on the emerging Internet should be documented for history purposes, and I won't forget how Bloghouse helped get me into Electronic music in one way or another. So here's a toast to the Bloghouse subculture. by @nshadex

Oh Manga, my beloved... The Japanese Nerd equivalent to American Comics first hit the US around the 90s or so I think, but it wasn't until the turn of the Millennium where it started to gain momentum and get off the ground. And in the 2020s pretty much everyone knows what this art form is even if you aren't interested in this side of culture. To start off this mini series, when it comes to Manga easily the biggest and most recognized publisher is known as Viz Media, who imports series from Japan's Shueisha. And their biggest imprint to date is none other than Shonen Jump. This is where the Big Leagues are at, and all the biggest names are present. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Shaman King, Yu Yu Hakusho... They're all here. This is what pretty much introduced everyone to the concept of Manga and has since been a factor in laying the groundworks to pave the way to where we're at now. But while big names are important, I think small ones are equally important. And while the titles I have here might've slipped through the cracks, been forgotten, or are not discussed enough anymore, I still want to highlight the ones that are important stops to make in this weeb pipeline. So I got a lineup of Shonen Jump series that are semi or aren't remembered as much as the big names. I want to start this off by asking who actually remembers Beet the Vandel Buster? The plot is pretty generic about this rag tag group of kids protecting their hometowns from Monsters attacking them, where they Bust Vandels. I watched the anime and the writing is pretty good, but I literally don't even see a passing mention of Beet. And then there are Shonen based on unique concepts like Katekyo Hitman Reborn! based on Mafia Gangsters and Tegami Bachi Letter Bee based on the Post Office. And then there's Black Cat the Goth-adjacent Assassin Manga series. I won't go through every item on this list but all of these are true classics in one way or another, and they represent the era of Manga that was simple yet so damn good. And I know that not all of these are completely forgotten, but I just want to refresh everyone's memory and remind you of these beautiful treasures. by @nshadex

The concept of Tattoos as an art form has had me in awe for most of my life. These are essentially permanent engravings on your skin done with ink and a needle. The process is excruciating but the reward for that endurance is a beautiful work of art on your body that you can see every day. Tattoos are also a very personal subject to me as both my parents have had Tattoos. My Ma only has a Tweety Bird Tat on her back as she loves Looney Tunes so much and my Dad had entire Tribal Tattoos on his arms, so I've been around Tatted people my whole life, the two who gave me birth. And while I don't want Tattoos myself I genuinely love the Tats that people have gotten as these are so gorgeous dude like wow. Tats can range from various styles and sizes from entire full on paintings to small and simple cute ones. But I want to discuss a big factor in terms of Tattoos which is its presence in subcultures. If you're a Goth girl or guy, or if you're a Metalhead, then you have absolutely run into Tatted peeps or you are one yourself. Biker Gangs are also full of Tatted people which is definitely awesome. Another subculture whose Tats are the primary source are known as "Suicide Girls" because you can't have Tattoos without Hot Baddies for real. These scenes are about as American as you can expect which sounds pretty badass I'll admit. Tattoos don't stop there tho as we then head overseas to Japan with all their Geishas and Yakuza having Dragon Tattoos on their backs, I can't do a post justice without mentioning all my fellow Otakus and Weebs out there, can't say the same for Tourists or LARPers tho yall ain't shit lol. There is a name for all the overarching branches of Tattoo artists and wearers known as "Ink Culture". If you watch enough TV you'll see reality shows like Inked and if you peruse the Newsstand Isles you'll come across some Tattoo Magazines. I'll admit, if I ever come across a Tatted person out there I'll assume they are dope as hell. So for those who rep their body with Tats you're all awesome. And for those who want Tats, enduring that first time experience will NOT be easy, but waiting at the end is a stunning work that is now forever etched onto your skin. by @nshadex

Ah yes, Vaporwave my beloved... The aesthetic that introduced me to and made me fall in love with aesthetics. I will never get bored of and I can't get enough of Vaporwave. Its many visual and music subgenres has me wandering its universe looking for secrets and uncovering these gems. And on today's stop in the Vaporwave realms I am here to take a look at a recent subgenre that has me entranced, that being what I like to call "Plantwave". Vaporwave's motifs with Plants make a great setpiece to the other elements much like a dinner table decoration. The presence of Plants add a more positive touch to the already nostalgic and yearning emotions of Vaporwave as Plants make us smile and so those two combined makes for something very intense yet so beautiful. Plants often show up in Neon wallpapers and the Sunsets of Synthwave are perfect for Palm Tree Imagery, Plants show up in Malls all across the country, Plants are present beside waterfalls, Plants are all over the Jungle... The Nature of Earth is quite omnipresent. In terms of these pics though, along with the classic usage of Pink and Teal color schemes, the ones in the second half might remind you of Concrete Jungle or the Greenery reclaiming its territory from our man made dominance with these structures, and that's because Plantwave is the best similar aesthetic. The Vibes of Concrete Jungle assume that humanity has long been gone, and Nature has taken back its place. And so the added feelings of nostalgia coupled with the scenario of humanity's time on earth having long since passed evokes a feeling of liminality that isn't like anything else. The Happiness from Plants, The Sadness of Post-Civilization, The Nostalgia and Yearning of Vaporwave... Talk about a whirlwind of emotions. But that to me is why Plantwave is among my most favorite subgenres of aesthetics. It combines two things that I love so much, that work so well together, that create a flurry of feelings, and out comes something that resonates in my soul, shaking and stirring its cavern walls... If you have Plants in your home, make sure to keep watering them and feed the nutrients that they need in order to bloom into something so beautiful. by @nshadex

Today I have a rare aesthetic that has fascinated me ever since I first discovered it on Insta Reels... That being the Chinese aesthetic known as "Too Cool". This one here essentially reclaims old styles that were considered to be old fashioned into a symbol of positive self expression. The name comes from how the letter 土 or Tu (which translates to Soil) had connotations towards the Rural areas of China, which changed into 土酷 or Tuku that sounds like "Too Cool" and that's how the aesthetic name was given. Too Cool transforms those old tacky designs into surreal Internet versions for the modern era which those who have faced the stigma can now own it and find fellas in these online subcultures. The primary reason why I love Too Cool so much is because to me it resembles the early era of Vaporwave with how much Teal is used in these pics and those low budget "graphics design is my passion" type aesthetics like one named Dollar Store Vernacular which has its own level of tackiness, which btw big fan of DSV there are some GEMS in that one for sure. But these genuinely do look so pretty, I love the usage of Waterfalls here so much and all the colorful Chinese letters and symbols. Another similar aesthetic that resembles Too Cool a lot is one named Fotonight Web which is a subgenre of Frutiger Aero that has a lot of the Tacky types designs being used here, and the story behind Fotonight Web is so fascinating as it pretty much appeared in a Redditor's dream yes I'm not making that up. But Fotonight Web has plenty of actual Real examples and it's such a fascinating rabbit hole to go down. As for Too Cool, these were the only pics that I could find online as because it's such a rare aesthetic there isn't that much out there, big shout out to the Aesthetics Fandom Wiki tho yall are my Goats. But since coming across Too Cool on Insta Reels I have become so much more of a fan and it just reminds me that the modern term usage "Doomscrolling" might make you end up coming across some truly weird, odd, bizarre, and neat stuff. The Internet has been a haven for weirdness ever since its very inception and Too Cool is another example of why the Web is such a fascinating place. by @nshadex

The "Cute Cool Style" was a term I coined to describe the style of Japanese media that fused the Cute and Cool types of designs into a blender and out came these rather awesome characters. The Cute refers to traditionally feminine features like softness and smoothness and the Cool refers to traditionally masculine features like hardness and rough edges. So in a way this sort of style is inherently androgynous, and as someone who identifies with that description the best as you can imagine I genuinely love this so much. I keep seeing this everywhere in anime and video games and until today there wasn't a name or much people discussing this in detail so I am here to do just that. A couple years ago I posted about Disgaea, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Elsword, MapleStory, and Gaia Online as I just fell in love with this type of style the first times I saw them. And last year I posted about more examples of the Cute Cool Style. But today I am back for more and this lineup right here is indeed stacked. Some of the ones here are the same from last time but there's plenty of new entries that I've included. Now I want to talk about how this type of design had emerged in these entertainment mediums, and to do that I want to bring up the concept of evolution, and I'm not talking about Darwin's theory I'm more so referring to how culture evolves in its language and art. If you look back through all the old anime for example you'll see that its style isn't like what we see today, but the elements are still present. And if you trace back the routes of old music you'll see how certain genres sounded different back then yet had the early elements of what it would fully become. Art is developed over time, the work in progress version and the final version are of course distinct in that the evolution of the vision became clearer. And somewhere along the way in video game and animation design people began to adopt the fusion between Cute and Cool characters to express in their artwork. Japan managed to make this sort of thing work in all their studios and as someone who deeply connects with this personally it makes me truly happy and appreciative of the process behind art iself. by @nshadex

This is the second part in my post duology of requests made by a fellow follower who goes by the handle westcrucifix, and after a year of waiting I finally got around to posting them. This one is about the NieR video game franchise. This series began with the Drakengard trilogy first releasing in 2003 and the continuation NieR first releasing in 2010 with Japan having two games to start being Replicant and Gestalt, and then the sequel Automata releasing in 2017 and the now defunct mobile game Reincarnation releasing in 2021. Yoko Taro is often sourced as the primary mind behind Drakengard and NieR, where he was credited as Director and scenario writer. And when it comes to influential figures in gaming I think Yoko Taro should be equally hailed next to the likes of Tetsuya Nomura and Hideo Kojima, and I know that's quite a big thing to claim but I do strongly believe in that opinion. After playing through lots of hours in Automata on my Switch so far I'll admit I had a fun time and a blast, it's def one of my favs. I just have a huge fondness for open world gaming where I can get lost and see what's out there in my screen. Reality is very distracting, with so much going on every day, where you always have to stay alert and you can rarely slow down to take it all in. But in the silence of my home, I can turn on my game and absorb myself in the immersion of that virtual realm without being so distracted. NieR Automata is one of my favs to do that in as I run around the Concrete Jungle environment and hack slash my way thru all the robot enemies. I've gotten decently far enough into the game to enjoy a lot of it. One of my fav parts was this Carnival area where I went to climb up this rollercoaster type structure and my lord the Sunset in that part was SO damn good dude. I would love to talk about the story in NieR though I don't have much knowledge on that, you can look that up online if you want to know more. And yes I do take follower requests if you want to see me post something then I will def consider it, it might take time for me to get to but I won't forget it as I do keep my promises. But yeah, NieR is great, and it is a very unique franchise for sure. by @nshadex

About a year ago a fellow follower who goes by westcrucifix requested that I post NieR and Ghost in the Shell, and even though it's been a while since then I never forgot my promise, I have kept it and stayed true to my word. This is the first part in this duology, that being Ghost in the Shell. Let me start this post by saying that I don't think there's ever been a better time to be a Ghost in the Shell fan than it is now. With the recent Anime adapting the OG Manga releasing this year, the interest in this franchise has since been revived and praised yet again. A lot of the reception has been pretty positive, even though some of the detractors have some genuinely crazy takes... But the fact that we get to see our good old pals Motoko Kusanagi, Batou, Daisuke Aramaki, Hideo Kuze, Puppet Master, Laughing Man and the Fuchikomas all over again has been one of the biggest treats of 2026. As it's adapting the OG Manga the tone is a mixture of silly and serious which does work so well together despite what people say. But let me talk about my love for Ghost in the Shell more here though... I love this Anime so much, to the point where I made a song with that title at one point. My love dates years back as it was one of those esoteric ones similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Texhnolyze, Boogiepop Phantom, and Ergo Proxy. Its complex themes and dark aesthetic def allured me which is why it's been a staple of my Anime journey ever since then. The first movie directed by Mamoru Oshii is such a masterpiece with so many iconic shots. One of my fav scenes is Motoko sitting by the window in the dark, like that is such a vibe dude. I relate to her a lot because even she has her partner Batou and other people in her line of investigation work, she still feels lonely in a dark cyberpunk world which I personally connect with. The 2nd movie Innocence and the Stand Alone Complex series are all also great in their own right. If you want a proper in depth retrospective the YouTuber Dungeon Chill pretty much goes through each mainline entry in the entire franchise. But yeah, GITS is truly Goated, and we fans are in for another great ride. by @nshadex
