Kerry Way recap days 3-5: Day 3 we went from Glencar to Glenbeigh (approximately 11 miles). We went through the woods a lot and had a lot more bogs to hike through. We made it to town pretty early and finally began talking with the only other hikers we had been seeing consistently, a couple from Switzerland. We had dinner at a pub, but I still didn’t have my appetite back. I was basically surviving on Cronin’s on ice 😂 Day 4 we went from Glenbeigh to Caherciveen (approximately 17 miles, more like 19 🤦🏻‍♀️). This was our toughest day so far. It started out fun by picking up some Fanta (our favorite fuel) for the hike and going through a fairy forest, and I had my favorite views of the trip overlooking the coast. But things quickly deteriorated. Some issues with my feet got worse, and my pinky toes kept hitting the edge of my shoes (I later realized my new insoles were the culprit). As the mileage and bog hiking got more difficult, the pain became increasingly unbearable. I finally switched to my flip flops for the last three miles. There were lots of tears lol. We made it to our inn and had the sweetest host. She made me a salt water bath for my toes, which had turned an awful shade of yellow. At dinner, I made the decision to take a bus to the next location, Waterville, and Eric would hike alone. Our sweet host helped us make the arrangements. She called Eric a cab in the morning to take him back to the trail, and he ended up in the same car as the Swiss couple we had been seeing everyday. The three of them hiked through torrential storms while I took a bus and met them at the next inn, where the Swiss were actually staying as well. Literally every item they were wearing was soaking wet. Luckily, this wasn’t our host’s first rodeo and she had some tips and tricks to dry off their shoes. The four of us had dinner that night and the day off was life changing for my feet. by @nshipma1

I am finally starting a very overdue recap of our thru hike in Ireland. Here is Kerry Way days 1 and 2! We flew into Dublin and had a few days to relax before taking a train to Killarney, where the Kerry Way begins. Eric decided to take a lesson from the end of the TMB and spent our free day before the hike violently ill 🤦🏻‍♀️ We got enough meds in him so we still started on time. Day 1 was Killarney to Black Valley (approximately 14 miles, really closer to 15). This was our easiest terrain day, because we started in town and had a lot of paved paths through Killarney National Park. We went past a waterfall, saw lots of green and mountains, and had gorgeous sunny weather. We saw very few hikers and stayed at a cute farm/Bed and Breakfast. We had a home cooked dinner and relaxed for the night. The next day we went from Black Valley to Glencar (approximately 12 miles). We had breakfast, and then I began to get sick 🤦🏻‍♀️ I spent a lot of the hike unable to fuel properly. We saw lots of sheep and cows, and began to hike through some bogs. We still had pretty good weather, and we hiked through lots of forest until we got to our second inn. We watched some World Cup and hung out at the bar downstairs until we called it a night. taken in Killarney, Ireland by @nshipma1

CDMX Part 2! For the second half of our trip, we had a little more structure thanks to @pijcooks17, who is the best at snagging reservations. We had amazing cocktails at some of the top ranked bars in the world, ate Michelin star and mentioned food, went to the anthropology museum, climbed some pyramids, and had the most amazing/fun boat ride down the canal. Mexico City was absolutely amazing and I know we’ll be back! taken in Mexico City, Mexico by @nshipma1

CDMX recap! I couldn’t pick just twenty photos so I’m splitting it into two posts. We spent the first half of our Mexico City trip wandering the city with zero structure. We did a LOT of walking. Despite what people may think, we felt extremely safe wandering the city. We stayed in Polanco and spent a lot of time going between there and Roma Norte. We happened upon a Michelin mention called Martinez and stopped in on a whim and saw a celebrity sighting. We had street quesadillas, multiple coffee shops everyday, and fancy cocktails at a witch themed bar. We went to one of the biggest libraries I have ever been inside, and we wandered down to the Frida Kahlo memorial and tried grasshopper at a restaurant near the Coyote Fountain. We of course also walked around the Angel de La Independencia, where they shut down the street for pedestrians every Sunday. We walked through a botanical garden and found a plant/coffee shop, and even braved the subway. We had an amazing and exhausting time eating and drinking our way through the city. taken in Mexico City, Mexico by @nshipma1

A little delayed, but we had an amazing week in California to celebrate Thanksgiving! We flew into LA and had a wonderful weekend visiting with friends and eating/drinking our way through the city (as well as seeing Sabrina Carpenter). We had bagels, sushi, coffee shops, Thai, Korean bbq, and Phil Rosenthal’s new restaurant, Max and Helen’s. We even had a celebrity sighting and saw him first at the coffee shop down the street, then at the restaurant itself. Next we drove to Joshua Tree NP for our 33rd national park. We hiked to Skull Rock and Fortynine Palms Oasis, and checked out a local brewery in 29 Palms and some other fun restaurants. Next we drove to San Luis Obispo, where we spent the holiday itself at the Madonna Inn. It was completely decked out in Christmas which was super fun. We did a Turkey trot in the morning, hit up the spa, then had dinner at the steakhouse. On Friday, we explored downtown, drove to the Hearst Castle for a tour, then drove down to Santa Barbara. On Saturday we made it to Channel Islands NP for National park number 34 and did a boat tour. Then Sunday we finally made our way back to LAX. It was a fun/exhausting week! taken in Los Angeles, California by @nshipma1

Got to see Taughannock Falls frozen. First time seeing it in the winter for all three of us. This was a great little winter hike to see the falls and let Duncan play in the snow.
