This place isn’t for everyone, but that’s part of what makes it so incredible.
Coastal canyons are often overlooked. Maybe because they aren’t always easy to get to. Maybe because they aren’t always the safest destinations. Whatever the reason, this place is one hell of an adventure.
My first visit here was solo, and honestly, the thing that scared me most wasn’t the height. It was the spiders that have clearly decided those towering rock walls belong to them.
The ladder isn’t secured at the base and doesn’t reach all the way down, so there is a bit of rock scrambling involved. I imagine that’s enough to keep a lot of people at the top. But if you can get past that, an entirely different world awaits at the bottom.
One thing I will mention is that I often find rubbish down here that’s been washed in by the ocean and trapped by the canyon walls. If you visit and you’re able to, take a bag and carry out a few pieces. It might not be your rubbish, but it’s still our coastline.
Leave it better than you found it.
