I spent today learning about @adobefirefly in downtown Detroit through the @adobe Create Now workshop series.

We grouped into teams to come up with concepts of whatever we wanted it to be. It gave us the ability to tinker it in a real, collaborative environment that wasn’t about the “concept” of work. That was a weird concept in itself.

The capabilities of this program was absolutely incredible, but even better was connecting with so many talented creatives.

Sometimes you just need to go to a @mocadetroit Family Day bonding sesh with your 👧🏻 and then frolick around Midtown (and visit your first apartment in Detroit ~ at $300 a month ~ that you lived in when you moved to the city 13 years ago), amiright?

We also checked out @coldtruthsoftserve 🍦which was 🤌🏼 per usual...

My creativity significantly amplifies when I'm inspired and yesterday was one of those days.

Had a lovely time this morning at @creativemorningsdetroit (per usual) ❤️‍🔥

Hearing the lived-in experiences from these queens⚡️@itsthatgirlstella @themarzexperience & @xoxo.email⚡️was inspiring.

Drag is layered with creativity, self-identity, community, and critics. From @ladygaga and @dollyparton references, to gender expression and crayon-makeup, I felt rooted in their stories and admired these queens for their vulnerability in sharing their lifelong love for drag and different pathways of being themselves.

The intimate journeys they shared were validating and relatable, and it really mirrored a similar journey of being a creative. The new connections I met felt the same way. We are not alone!

What I learned: just be YOU and OWN it. F*ck everyone else—stop comparing and forget about the haters. Use your energy to move forward. I 💯 agree with this.

I absolutely love being a part of the creative (and drag 💃💋) community in this city.

Last night at the @mocadetroit reopening (20 years!!), it reminded me why I’m committed to building creative pathways in this city.

Five hours of conversations, powerful work by Carole Harris and DABLS, and a room full of artists, educators, and collaborators all pointed to one thing: Detroit’s next chapter is going to change the game. Also, the fashion did not disappoint🔥

I moved here in 2013 after completing my BFA at @michiganstateu with zero contacts. I happened to live around the corner from the museum while trying to figure it out—just like Detroit. I was drawn to its energy that was brewing underneath. The city and I grew up together, and MOCAD was where I found my footing as a designer.

Last night wasn't just a reunion, it was a reset.

This is a new era. I’m excited to be part of what’s next.

A little late, but I wanted to post about the events with @designcoredet @ccs_detroit & @thelovebuilding that I had the privilege of attending last week. It was amazing to be involved in both events—for both Design Core Detroit's Invite-Only Exhibition Event / start of Detroit Month of Design, the celebration of the 10th year as a UNESCO city of design city / 15th year of Detroit Month of Detroit AND for the 1st Year Anniversary of the Grand Opening Party in The Love Building in Core City, Detroit.

It was humbling to be standing in the same room with so many incredible Detroit creatives. The hustle since day 1 was worth it. The exhibition with the @detroithistorical was so fascinating.

I'm grateful to be involved with both of these impactful programs and will continue to contribute to these wonderful communities in Detroit! 💪🏼

A nice morning at @driftercoffee 🌻 ☕️

They had plans to move to a bigger space off of Livernois next month, but they had to make the decision to stay put. And honestly, the entire city is grateful for them to stay in their current building. Drifter has created such a unique space and we are thankful for them in our Woodward Heights community 🌈

Peperomia in bloom at @thelovebuilding 🌱

These are so fun to take care of. We have around 40 of these in The Love Building and I make sure to care for every single one individually! There are light differences, ceiling vents, and temperature differences throughout the building, and each one needs special attention.

So grateful to be able to do this for the last 2.5 years with these amazing people and beautiful building renovated by @quinnevans.qe 🫶🫶🫶 taken in Core City, Detroit by @nt.design

Had a wonderful time tonight attending the Creative Union thrown by @menace.media at @chromadet 🌃

It was a gathering that featured local creatives and a talk with @marysheffield discussing the future of Detroit and the creative community. Feeling inspired and motivated in this chapter of my career.
