Sabato 21 marzo è stata inaugurata “Per aria”, la mostra di Oliviero Florenzi, a cura di Marcello Smarrelli, nella suggestiva Chiesa del Suffragio - Centro Arti Visive.

Un evento che ha trasformato lo spazio in un dialogo sospeso tra materia e immaginazione, dove l’opera invita il pubblico a guardare oltre il visibile indagando sul desiderio umano di elevarsi, trasformando l’aria da semplice elemento fisico a luogo invisibile di passaggio tra ciò che siamo e ciò che possiamo immaginare.

Testing the Performance of Fabrics

The Crockmeter is a laboratory instrument used to determine the colour fastness of textiles to rubbing. The test can be performed dry or wet, simulating different real-life conditions of use.

How the test works:
A standard white cotton test cloth is placed in the upper part of the instrument.

The fabric sample to be tested is fixed onto a dedicated holder in the lower part of the device.

The instrument performs 10 rubbing cycles in one direction and 10 in the opposite direction, reproducing the friction that a fabric may experience during use.

Result evaluation:
After the test, the white cotton test cloth is checked for any colour transfer. The result is evaluated using the Grey Scale for Staining, which measures colour fastness on a scale from:

1 = poor colour fastness (high colour transfer)

5 = excellent colour fastness (no colour transfer)

This test is essential in textile quality control, as it helps determine whether a fabric may bleed or transfer colour onto other materials during wear or use.

Testing the Performance of Fabrics

The WATER COLUMN TEST measures a fabric’s resistance to water penetration. It is one of the most commonly used parameters in the outdoor industry to evaluate the waterproofness of a material.

This test determines how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it begins to let water pass through. In practice, the material is subjected to gradually increasing pressure: when water starts to seep through the fabric, it means that the material has reached its resistance limit.

The test continues until water penetrates the sample at three different points. The pressure at which water passes through the first, second, and third points of the fabric is then recorded. The final value represents the maximum pressure that the fabric can withstand.

Understanding the water column rating is essential for making informed purchasing decisions, especially when choosing clothing or equipment for outdoor activities.
