We’re looking forward to the fourth and final young people focus group tomorrow for The Safe Stage project @culturehousesunderland 5-6.30pm 🎥 🎶

Musician @georgiamay.uk will be helping to guide the conversations around Informal and Exploitative work cultures!

These discussions are helping to shape a youth-led video campaign that young people involved in the project will then go on to create with @crewgalcreativehouse in Phase 2 of the project 🎬 🎸

Another great focus group for The Safe Stage today! 🎶🎥

This morning we were chatting with @righttrackmusicproject on all things Unsafe Work Environments in the music industry, exploring what makes young musicians feel safe, supported and confident in different spaces and situations.

Musician and facilitator @georgiamay.uk helped these young people share many brilliant conversations, experiences and ideas!

All of these discussions are helping to shape the youth-led video campaign that the young people will go on to create with @crewgalcreativehouse , raising awareness and helping to make the music industry a safer and more inclusive place for young musicians. 🙌🏻

And of course, we managed to squeeze in some live music too! 🎸🥁

The last young people focus group is this Wednesday 14th October 5-6.30pm @culturehousesunderland - looking at Informal and Exploitative Cultures taken in Arts Centre Washington by @ntmeh

Are you aged 18–25 (or 18-30 if you identify as disabled/neurodivergent) and involved in music, performing, gigging, producing, DJing, songwriting or working otherwise in the music industry.

We’re looking for young people from North Tyneside and Sunderland to be part of The Safe Stage Project – a new youth-led video campaign exploring safety, wellbeing and real-life experiences in the music industry.

Whether you’ve performed at gigs, worked behind the scenes, studied music, or are just starting your creative journey, we want to hear from you.

🎬 The Safe Stage has officially begun! 🎶

This morning we held our very first Safe Stage focus group at @traxxmusicuk with young people from the @evolutionproject2026

Today’s conversation focused on Low & No Pay in the music industry — exploring young people’s experiences, perspectives and what they feel needs to change as they begin to navigate opportunities and careers within music.

Musician @isa6elmaria helped facilitate the conversation, creating space for some really open and thoughtful discussions, while @crewgalcreativehouse started to capture the journey towards our youth-led video campaign. 🎥

Hearing what the young people had to say, and importantly, what they want this project and campaign to achieve, was genuinely inspiring. This is exactly what Safe Stage is about: making sure young people’s voices and real-life experiences are at the centre of the conversation!

And of course, we couldn’t spend the morning in a studio without sharing a bit of music too… 🎸🎶

What an incredible way to end the term! 🤩🎶

We’re so proud of everyone from our Sounding Out, Emerging Artists and BTA Youth projects who performed last night at our collective gig @crewgalcreativehouse Your talent, confidence and hard work shone through, it was such a brilliant evening!

Have an amazing summer! ☀️ We can’t wait to see you all back at sessions in September. 💛✨

🎙️ Today, some of our Sounding Out group headed to @crewgalcreativehouse for a hands-on podcast workshop!

Working with Seth and Susan, the group got stuck into the world of podcasting – learning how to develop ideas, plan episodes, use recording equipment, and create their own content. 🎧✨

It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, building new skills, and finding their voices (as well as what everyone had for breakfast 😅). Most importantly, the young people had the chance to share their ideas and have their voices heard!

🎶 What an amazing day at our Sounding Out half term activity!

Today, young people got hands-on with music production, working with David Smith from @sapienrecords to create their own tracks using iPads and GarageBand 🎸🎧🎹

It’s been fantastic to see so much confidence, collaboration and creativity throughout the session and hear some brilliant original music coming together! Huge thanks to David Smith and Sapien Records for sharing his expertise and inspiring the group today. 🙌

Sounding Out! at @heartbreakrecordings 🎧🎤

The young people from the Sounding Out! project had an amazing time at Heartbreak Studios last night — and we’re back again next week! ✨

This project is all about youth voice. We listen to the kinds of music, activities and experiences the group want to explore, then do our best to make those ideas happen.

There was no set plan going into the session yesterday, but after putting their heads together, the group began creating an original Hip Hop/Rock track with support from our music leader and incredible producer @theandianderson 🎶

From recording guitars and experimenting with beats, to drumming, songwriting and studio sessions, it was brilliant to see everyone collaborating, creating and trying something new.

Huge thank you to @heartbreakrecordings for having us 🫶🏻
