The Jane Doe who accused Shawn ”JAY-Z” Carter, #jayz and Sean ”Diddy” Combs #diddy of raping her when she was 13 years old has dropped her civil lawsuit.   According to The Guardian  the unnamed woman filed to voluntarily dismiss the case with prejudice in Manhattan federal court on Friday, February 14. Doe will no longer be able to bring the case to court in the future. Her attorney Tony Buzbee, who has had a public back-and-forth with Hov’s lawyers during the suit, did not comment. “Today is a victory,” JAY-Z said in a statement via @rocnation. “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere.” He added that the lawsuit was also traumatic for Beyoncé and their three children. Combs’ lawyers said in a joint statement, “We will continue to fight these baseless claims and hold those responsible. This is just the first of many that will not hold up in a court of law.” Doe, only identified as a 38-year-old from Alabama, accused the two artists of raping her at a house party that took place following the 2000 MTV VMAs. Again, Drake has exposed the unethical  tactics labels use to push or restrict an artist’s industry elevation. Tactics such as, unethical promotionals, including the use of BOTs to artificially inflate the song’s popularity on streaming platforms and engaging in payola schemes. Drake’s lawsuit against UMG underscores the complexities of artist-label relationships and raises critical questions about the balance between artistic expression and defamation.
