Understanding the art of working with the mix instead of against it will make or break a MC.. I used to be against MCs on my sets and used to just prioritise vocals, but as I soon learned and maybe lucky to come across some absolutely wicked local MCs - I soon understood a real experienced MC will master the craft of working with a song & not against it, letting the music do its job and riding the beat waiting for the vocals to drop off or work in & out of them, I’m now alllll for MCs, nothing better than working with somebody who understands✨

FROM LRG TO THE NEW ERA.

A major thank you to Nottingham veteran @thisis2tone for stepping into the studio this week.

For over a decade, 2Tone has been a crucial, foundational architect of the 0115 music scene, though many newer listeners might not know his deep history. Long before the modern boom of East Midlands rap, 2Tone broke into the industry alongside Nottingham legend @jahdigga under the legendary Grime collective Lyrics Rhymes & Grime (LRG), originally formulated by UK veteran @therealwariko . Together, they built a cult following with early underground classics like “Crepes” and “Roots”, eventually exporting the Notts sound internationally with a mini-tour of Germany and milestone performances at Glastonbury’s BBC Introducing stage. He was also the artist selected to represent Nottingham on the pioneering domestic violence charity single “Man Enough” alongside UK rap heavyweights Scorcher and @klashnekoff .

His monumental newest release brings his musical journey full circle, reuniting him with long-time collaborator Jah Digga and featuring the captivating vocals of @debrisstevenson . The track is a masterful blend of heritage, razor-sharp lyricism, and modern sonic maturity. It was an absolute privilege capturing his portrait and hosting a true pioneer of the local circuit in our space. Go stream the new single now, and keep your eyes fixed on his official platforms for what’s coming next from our session.

Massive thanks to everyone who passed through our launch on Saturday. It was amazing to see the valuable connections being made, our community coming together and we’re overwhelmed with the feedback. However…

There’s more to do. Repairs, upgrades, emails etc.. you know the drill. For those that couldn’t make it, keep your eyes peeled for our first streamed event to release the website where you’ll be able to book the studio, the services and a whole lot more.

Finally, this studio project has been 5 months of solid graft, communication, investment, collaboration, trust and travel between over 30 individuals. In the next few weeks we aim to showcase there work and extended the #NTWRK further as it couldn’t have been done without them.
