In honor of Suicide Prevention Month and the recent passing of Dolly Parton, I wanted to make a post about Endometriosis.

After over a decade of dismissed pain and other symptoms - I found an amazing, affirming provider who took my concerns seriously and scheduled a laparoscopic surgery to look for clues. I was diagnosed with endometriosis that day.

It’s been six months since surgery and I am so thankful to say that I’m feeling the best I have in years. Don’t get me wrong, there are still daily struggles and lessons to be learned.

Just really fucking proud of myself for advocating for myself, pushing myself for better health and getting up off the ground over and over again, re learning to walk, exercise, etc and giving myself a lil shoulder pat lol and shout out to my closest friends and family for your support through it all! 🥰

Pain management is suicide prevention, pass it on ❤️

🖤 REAL GOTH GIRL SHIT 🖤

Of course @haley.ghoulightly and I rescued a crow.

Wasn’t planning on spending my morning trying to wrangle a sassy, yet injured crow but here we are!

While sitting in the backyard, we noticed a crow fall from a tree at the next door house. It became stuck and a murder of crows would not stop squawking and crying out in a distressed manner.

We decided to go make sure it was okay. It had become trapped in between two branches and hurt its wing and became unable to fly.

After 30 mins or so at attempting to grab this lil buddy, and at least a dozen birds swarming over us and cawing incessantly; we managed to capture our new friend and bring it to the @wrcmn. He seemed to really perk up when he felt the AC kick in on our ride there. We’re hoping he makes a speedy recovery!

Also, as we approached the center, the radio began playing “Free Fallin” and so fingers crossed, if this guy makes it- he’ll be returned to our yard and he will be known as Tom Petty going forward.

I didn’t make it Jake side as often as I should have but have always held your artistry and musicianship in the highest regard.

Selfishly heartbroken over the news of your departure with @umphreysmcgee. I’ll miss raging my weekends away with you and the jams and infectious smile you always brought to the stage.

Glad I got to rage, rest and repeat with you for the last 16 years. You will be missed and we’re all wishing you well in whatever this next chapter brings!

Rest easy, Charlie Barley. My Charles Lee Ray. My own C. Montgomery Burns…

Our time with you was simply too short but you touched the lives of so many and were loved immensely in that short time.

There was a quiet moment while Fanchon was in her hospital bed, beginning her first round of chemo where almost out of no where, she goes “I’m going to die and I’ll have never owned a dog.” That made my head spin because I hadn’t even grappled with losing her yet. Nevertheless, with not much to fill the time while sitting in a hospital room, I began searching for dogs available for adoption. That was one goal we could fulfill, so I prioritized it.

I just kept circling back to Charlie for some reason. My life had been flipped upside down and I wasn’t prepared to care for anything beyond what I was already doing but my heart sank when he no longer appeared on the humane society website. I assumed he was adopted but I called anyways. He was getting ready to be moved to another location - a last hope, before having to put him down. He was the last of 22 hoarded dogs that the AHS rescued to be adopted.

He trembled in his kennel but became a different dog when we took him outside. I just knew someone had to take a chance on this dog.

He was goofy and playful and gentle and scared and anxious and well intentioned, which all remind me of myself in ways. He tested me and put me in situations that taught me so much about patience and grace and compassion - and like most loss, it’s a reminder to get back to what’s important.

I’d leave the hospital daily to take care of him. He was even miraculously saved after he broke free from his harness and was lost for 5+ days in subzero temperatures during Fanchon’s first round of chemo (during covid and no visitors allowed.) Our family got another 4 years with him and I’m so so glad I called and took that chance, despite how incredibly scared I was - to care for and love something else I had the potential of losing - because it’s always so so worth it and losing you is a painful reminder of that.

I love you and I’ll miss you, kind soul. I know Fanchon and your brothers and sisters welcomed you across the rainbow bridge 🌈 by @nuffintoofancy

My babygirl is 10 🥰

How has a decade passed with you already?! So much has happened in that time and you’ve literally always been right at my side (you, Stalker, you 😜) To think I had to bottle feed you at the beginning swells my heart and brings tears to my eyes; my baby kitty 🥹

My fierce and loyal companion. I’m so thankful for the day we found you in the asparagus patch, that Fanchon begged me to keep you and that you have remained a tether through all of the changes.
